I had purchased tip-ups online from K-Mart over 10 years back.
They were HT tip-ups (soory,I don't recall the exact model) and came with a 4" spool.
I've got a total of 15 traps, 8 jigging rods, 8" hand auger and 10" power auger. 6 rod holders (2 that clip ons and 4 stand ups)
I have a wide selection of hooks, jigs, spoons and plastics.
I have over a hald dozen pairs of creepers, a pair of picks and a spud.

Now all we need is good, solid ice!

Saw this at #^&#^&#^&#^&s for $200....not a bad way to start. Add some Tipups, a scoop, and a minnow bucket and you are good to go.

I picked up a used kit with a bunch of stuff (H/T to WestportMafia for the lead) to build around.

Next step, a few more tip ups and maybe a used power auger.

John if you want to educate yourself a little about "ice" you might want to check out this blog started recently by a very experienced iceboater from Burlington VT. I think the tradegy with several snowmobilers going thru and dying last winter in his area got him thinking there needs to be some kind of resource for ice safety and education.

In se ma and ri I really think a power auger is overkill. A spade usually works better

I do have a 10" electric and a 8" manual though. I hate gas augers in the morning

Check out the nils usa auger. Much cheaper than a power version, and damn fast. My friend just picked one up, there's a chance that it may make its way to tabbit and you can try it out.
