Congratulations, many times over. A great achievement,:uhuh:

Congrats to your son, few people realize the commitment and hard work it takes to make Eagle Scout.
You should be very proud.

gf2020 01-21-2011 03:55 PM

Congrats, Kevin. I knew George's committee was meeting last night. I earned mine in 1984.

I'll expect to see you both at the Eagle Recognition dinner in February 2012.

Kevin Tell your son good job, he is one of the few that manages to stick it out.

Now you owe a 1000 word report on what his project was.

Mike

I was a First Class scout. I don't know what a kid has to do to become an Eagle Scout these days but if it was anything like back in the "old days" he deserves much, much credit.

BassDawg 01-22-2011 08:55 AM

!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Kevin and Son,
WELL DONE, to you both.
:claps: :claps: :claps: :claps: :claps:

becoming an Eagle Scout is one of the most difficult achievements that young men could aspire to. especially so, in this God forsaken Wussification Era our Nation has thrust itself into. our male youth is being polarized against what it means to be a man on so many levels! it does my heart good to see and hear that your son not only WANTED to be an Eagle Scout, even more so that he EARNED such a lofty goal. for truly, such an aspiration will test one's mettle with regard to mind, body, and spirit. it challenges one to perservere when the end is nowhere in sight. it is an arduous process of accomplishments in multiple and varied endeavors. it is the culmination of many years of Scouting and it's highest honor~~ that requires ALL of the above, is attempted by many, and achieved by so very few.

Congrats, INDEED!!!

From one Eagle to another, a sincere congrats.
Even more to the proud parents that stood by and chafuered him around for all those years. A commitment on both parts.
It is an amazing acomplishment that no one can ever take away from him. The skills and knowledge learned will carry him far in life and really does set him apart from others.
Please let me know when the eagle ceremony is. I will do my best to attend to watch you both tear up..........Might even dust off the ole uniform....either that I'll wear my wetsuit.............

striprman 01-22-2011 03:47 PM

Now he needs to continue with his progress. Do the Boy Scouts still have gold and silver "feathers" for additional merit badges beyond the ones required for Eagle rank ?

billy413 01-22-2011 04:37 PM

I became an Eagle scout in 2001 and I will tell you that these days it is not an easy task for both the scout and the parents, there is alot of peer pressure when he gets that that age to particpate in other activities, and it is great to hear that some still achieve that in there lives and it will pay off for him later on with what he learned and earned .congrats for him and your family on this outstanding acheivement

pbadad 01-23-2011 10:57 AM

CONGRATS FOR A JOB WELL DONE. THE PERSEVERANCE AND DEDICATION IS BEYOND NON SCOUTERS' COMPREHENSION. COMMITTMENT TO A PROGRAM THAT CAN LAST UP TO 13 OR SO YEARS IS AN HONOR IN IT'S SELF. AS A FATHER OF A RECENT EAGLE SCOUT I TOO REALIZE WHAT OUR SONS GO THROUGH TO RECEIVE THIS HONORABLE AWARD. THIS AWARD IS AND WILL BE A LIFETIME ACCOMMPLISHMENT WHICH HE WILL BE PROUD TO CARRY IN HIS LIFE'S RESUME.

spence 01-23-2011 12:04 PM

Agree it takes a level of dedication most kids don't have these days...Congrats...

I made it to Life Scout. I've never met an Eagle Scout who wasn't a first class man. My heartiest congratulations to you both. This is an accomplishment that will follow your son through his entire life.

Another Eagle Scout here in 1968 or 1969 (can't remember. I'd have to dig out some of my documents). If he wants to continue, a real challenge is to join and complete the Oder of the Arrow. That's what my sash with the Arrow represents.

Scouting was great when I was a kid and I'm sure its the same. I was only in a year when we moved to Cumberland. In CF I could walk to the meetings. In Cumberland I couldn't and with both parents working and only 1 car it just wasn't feasable. I do have lots of memories from even that one year. Its a unique thing in most boys lives. First time taking an organized hike , first time using a Topo map , first time cooking outside , first time camping , first time marching in a parade , first time rowing a boat and canoe , first time shooting a rifle. All this in just a year. Like every kid , i also hoped to be an Eagle Scout. Congrats to the kids and their famiies who could make it to the top.

tattoobob 01-23-2011 02:12 PM

Congrats Kevin

Kinda wish I still had my metal eagle badge. Only got the patch. Pinned my metal badge on my Granpappy when we buried him as he had been a long time scoutmaster in walpole, even though he had never earned his. He was on planet Zork with Alzeihmers disease when i got mine so he never got to be proud of me for it.

....And he should take the Ooder of the Arrow to another level and get the arrow head in the middle to signify "Brotherhood".......Always went as high as I could in everything............

stripercrazy 01-23-2011 08:00 PM

wow thats huge congrats

The Dad Fisherman 01-23-2011 08:43 PM

He is heavily involved in the OA. He is the Current Chapter Chief for our chapter. Loves it, and has a ball w/ the other guys in it. Got his brotherhood last year.....someday he is hoping for Vigil.

BigBo...cool pics of the Eagle hardware.....good that you still have all that.

Lower 01-23-2011 10:44 PM

Congrats to you and your son TDF!! I'm on the other end of the spectrum...1st year, little guy is loving it. Pinewood derby was a ball a couple weeks ago.
