I have fished 5 in my lifetime.
The one in SoCo for the NPT club. (no quip) The Red Top (no quip) The Back Eddy ( no quip) OTW, which I no longer partipate in (quips) The Newport Club interclub (no quip) I think you have been involved with at least three. Nice try though. |

I completely agree that OTW is not to blame for the lengths people will go to win what should be a fun thing... People ruin stuff... But if you can't fish in a tourney and enjoy the hunt because you are worried what other people are doing to try to win, that's your problem..
Let em cheat... I'll sleep at night... And if you happen to beat them despite their tactics... All the sweeter... Acting(?) like a clueless goog and watching them grit their teeth while they congratulate you? Priceless...;-) Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

I just made that up in jest based on the Dangler's post. Kinda catchy but the last word, starting with an S to keep the initials good, needs work. |
What a JOKE

John nice yoke, You may have engaged in some sort of mind gamemanship, but it does have a nice ring to it. Perhaps you might want to explore that to another level .
Just think, perhaps you may have started another discussion point where some value could come of it. Just speaking out loud |

No

OTW is claiming that he signed up for team striper over a month ago

why would OTW allow someone not identifying themselves with a particular team prior to catching a fish to simply declare a team after or in conjunction with submitting the weight slip and invite that kind of scrutiny from something that would be very dubious? I don't know when Meyerson declared that he would be fishing for a team but it sure doesn't make any sense to me that he somehow decided after the fact to weigh it for Team Striper and OTW somehow accepted that... their, OTW's, "claim" seems to make the most sense of anything I've heard...don't know if it is right or wrong but they've indicated that there is plenty of precedence for people joining teams in mid-season seems that the people that have "no interest" or involvement in the Cup are the most worked up about all of this... |

and a few others) 3) There was constant adjustment of rules in response to never ending complaints and controversies. I think OTW is doing a good job. |
When ever one operates a tournment you will almost find some controversy.
Rules are only inplace to those that follow them, because every rule will get tested at some point, no matter how hard the sponcers attempt to prevent problems some one will find the loop hole and challenge them. In most instances most tournements will have those that really do not care how they get the top prize, just as long as they are the ones to get it. One needs to ask the question, how can recreational entries ever equal those that commercially fish for a living ?? No matter what, the advantage will always go to the charter boats who fish for a living. It goes with out saying that in some fields those that charter for a living are considered to be commercial fishermen, as they are not pure recreationally oriented. It also speaks to why the charter boats support these types of events, it provides a braggin point if and when there boat is under consideration for hire. We can talk about the sport of fishing from two view points, commercially and recreationally, but overall the advantage for weighing in a large fish, goes to the charter fleet and not those land bound from any beach front. I understand that OTW has attempted to correct this disparity, so do we really still have a disadvantge fishing from a land bound beach front???? All teams should be declared and made public before any fish is ever weighed in under any team name. Was a list ever publically posted any where that stated all the teams and its members??? By making such a list publically available it takes away the suspect illegal entry from being counted in the grand scheme of prizes and makes the tournement more honest for every one concerned. I was unable to find such a list posted, is there one, so that every one knows that XZ team has 13 members and these are there names?? This should be announced prior to the start and once the tournement has started no one else can now claim to be part of Xz team and weigh in a fish that has no right to be weighed in under that name. |
