Cars, both new and used are selling at an all time high right now

RIROCKHOUND 09-15-2011 10:08 AM

The irony of this thread title, is that you are the one losing money (and health) at a rate of what, $8/day?

ecduzitgood 09-15-2011 10:22 AM

Try $2.00 a pack if I don't roll my own I smoke cigars. My health is only of concern to me, I have no one in my life that will suffer when I'm gone. How am I being selfish when I do everything I can to limit anyone else's exposure to my smoke, I either field strip and pocket them after smoking or find a proper place to dispose of them, that seems like a considerate type of behavior:confused:
Once again if they even had a trash can I could have disposed of the spent cigarette properly after extinguishing it.
It is the people who are restricting smokers that are being selfish in my eyes.
Why can't I open a restaurant that allows smoking and just put a sign at the entrance that alerts people to the fact there is smoking allowed here? The employees would be hired knowing before hand so they could choose if they wanted to work for you or not.
Choice a thing of the past in this free country :(
So in my eyes it's the people who want to impose their beliefs on me and control my legal actions.

Sea Dangles 09-15-2011 10:37 AM

So if you own a company and decide to abolish smoking on the property because smokers cost so much more in health insurance (just like fatties), that is being selfish?A lot of progressive companies also fund smoking cessation programs as well as Jenny Craig programs. Is that selfish? Some adults are like kids;they don't know what is good for them. In Ed's case he is too addicted and looks for ways to justify his habit. Most smokers probably bitch about the cost of healthcare too...

The Dad Fisherman 09-15-2011 10:48 AM

you know....if you just put the cigarette out in the ashtray before you got out of your car...none of this would be going on right now

ecduzitgood 09-15-2011 11:00 AM

Your right TDF

I wish I had, but I didn't and thus my frustrations begin. I will even go as far as saying if they put a sign at the street entrance about their policy I would have known better. But for me to find out after I have gotten out of the car and walked to the door was just a slap in the face to me which made me feel completely unwelcome. The whole situation could have been different if only I knew before I got out of my car.

Speaking of cigars, I was fishing this morning and a guy sparked the most rotten CHIT smelling cigar. But we were outside and he has thr right to... Is there a rule that you spark only after catching a fish?

Smokers are a huge money-sink for employers. More sick days, requests for more breaks, poorer job performance... I think it was the Economist or Inc. Magazine a few months ago that had an article about a couple studies that dug into the details of workers who smoke compared to workers who do not.

vineyardblues 09-15-2011 04:47 PM

10 years ago in Cal you could no smoke at any bar etc ...
we are behind times

Karl F 09-15-2011 05:42 PM

wanna really have a grump?...smoking inside YOUR car, decreases the trade in value, on average, 35%.... and over 60 % of used car buyers won't consider purchasing a vehicle, once they get the dirty ashtray whiff....

Joe 09-15-2011 07:22 PM

A lot of people were outside smoking when the first plane hit the WTC.

Where was all the compassion when, as a Non-smoker, I had to smell all that crap when I was trying to enjoy a meal out at a restaurant...or when I wanted to go out and have a couple of pops and came back wreaking of somebody elses nasty habit....now all of a sudden you have to be inconvenienced because of YOUR nasty habit and WE are supposed to feel compassion.....not this guy.

I love the fact that Smokers are the Lepers of the 21st century....

I have Zero Compassion for Smokers.....they can KMA :bshake: for all I care.

My father was a smoker (Had to quit after being diagnosed w/ Emphesema) and I made him go outside and smoke...so I'm not just picking on you....

*****This is the Grumpy old Pharts Board, Isn't it***** :hihi:

Hey Bernardi, You get a Thumbs up :kewl: from this guy on your No Smoking Policy

8:40 a.m. was a good time for a cigarette break if you worked at Cantor Fitzgerald. Figure by the time you got to the plaza it was 8:43, that puts you safely puffing at 8:46....

RIJIMMY 09-16-2011 10:03 AM

I think this would all be resolved if we just installed sinks outside of bathrooms. It just makes good sense!

You probably think those cigars you get at 7-11 in the foil wrappers smell good. That guy next to you was smoking a fairly decent hand rolled gem from the Dominican. He used to only smoke one after catching a fish. Unfortunately, he's become so bad at fishing that he can no longer do that.:uhuh:
Last Saturday, that same guy had to smoke a rare and expensive Acid Opulence to keep the mosquitos away while fishing because he forgot his bug spray.

If I remember correctly, you moved away on your own because there were no fish in front of me. Then some guy moved into your original spot and immediately hooked up.:rotf2:

I still get fired up at the lack of spittoons in banks, too

64% of elderly on a cruise ships don't wash their hands after going the bathroom. Imagine what's on those tongs at the all-you-can-eat hog bins?

Ever look at an old person's finger nails? You can see the stuff....

I learned from my grandmother that sometimes hemorrhoids can become so bothersome that temporary relief can come from just pushing them back in, she was right. It's just too bad hand sanitizer stings so much and faucet handles are so disgusting to touch, but then again who will know besides me :devil2:
The only drawback is as I get older my memory is failing, I sometimes forget which finger I used and use it when picking my nose :(

Joe 09-20-2011 08:06 AM

Nice imagery.
I don't like the super-size culture, the all-you-can-eat places, events that revolve primarily around food.
I was fat for a while - worst experience of my life. Now, I'm so turned off to food. You go out with people who overeat, take them back to your house for coffee then watch as they make four trips to the bathroom to sh_t it all out. It's even worse when it's a woman. It completely strips them of any vestiges of femininity.

Jesus, I never realized thier were so many perfect people on this site. I should spend more time here, I would be a much better person.

Sea Dangles 09-20-2011 12:52 PM

Joe brings granola to Thanksgiving.
The very thought of a cookout makes him tremble.

Perfect people...hmmmmm, I need to get me a new thesaurus:confused:

Really bad breath is worse than smokers breath. I guided this guy from Long Island whose breath was so bad it gave me a migraine.
