But back to the Tebow discussion... I liked him as a college QB at Florida. He could get away without being accurate with his passes. But given the choice of young QBs, I would take Cam Newton over him hands down every day of the week. Better passer, and a run threat too. But in this pass happy NFL, with so many rules protecting QBs and receivers, I would give the young gun nod to the kid in Detroit, Matthew Stafford. That kid is going to be the stud when the class of Brady, Brees and Rodgers are gone.

If tebow plays like he did yesterday, he will be a formidable option. He's learning the pro game, he's not telegraphing his passes, not forcing the play, and he can run at the moment.
|
If he's learning the pro game, they will be taking the run out of his gameplan... It is a passing game now, Bill. His QB option is going to be defensed just like the Wildcat was...

Our D hopefully will be able to do so.

Ya, I like Newton and Stafford too. I like Tebow as a player, it's hard not to if you love the game because he is a tough kid and leaves it all out there. I do think however his "Pro Tools" as far as the passing game goes lacks in comparison to the previously mentioned QB's in his class. If Denver continues with this game plan eventually the league will snuff it out just like the wildcat.

Even if Tebow's passing skill set were to improve to, say the Steve Young level, he is going to get mowed down by continuing to run the ball. Young has 3 rings, numerous passing records, MVPs, +4400 yds rushing, and was forced to retire due to concussion syndrome. He had seven that were reported. (Marino had 87 yds rushing for his career....thought that was funny)

They were saying somewhere his release time is 9/10 ths of a second and the average release time around the league is 6/10 ths
BTW he is now an 80's icon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCpEr09wtP4 |
