I have always thought the 1201m is overall a very good canal rod. The net ability of it to do what you want makes it a great choice. If it were me and I could have only 1 rod for the canal I would probably go with an all star 1208 or batson su1208 as I like a bit faster action for jigging throwing metal. I don't know what the shorter centuries are like, but I love my 1327. I definitely would consider the same rod in 10' version for "1" rod for the canal, but I don't believe they make it. Others might know.

You need 2 rods to do all that at the canal....its the jigging that would probably give you problems...

I love the 1201m as well....but I think it would be a struggle trying to effectively jig the canal with it. When I go there I always bring 2 rods....one to jig and one to plug. you could fish bait with either.

just my opinion though...take it for what its worth

You can do it all with an SSU 120 1MH. ;)

Or a Mojo 2-6.
