By the way, we don't pretend that we're the only internet striped bass site on this website--it's OK to say it's on SOL. ;)

Two years ago Matt and I were tooling along at the bottom of one hundred steps and Matt saw a large plug bag left on the rocks. He walked out and retrieved it. For the next half mile the conversation centered around how hard it might be to find the owner of the bag, and that we hoped we could. Just then this guy comes at us going as far as he could peddle, because he had left his bag where we found it. He saw the bag in Matt's basket. Took it out of the basket and muttered something, very muted and I dont think it was a thank you, and took off back to the parking area. He was still there when we got back to our vehicles when I overheard him say, "yah, maybe I should have thrown them a plug", to his two buddies. My understanding of how he said it was that we looked like a pair of googans, and he'd be doing us a favor. He wasn't very appreciative of our endeavours, but at least we didn't have to search long for the owner. Someone going the opposite direction could have picked it up, rode off, and never looked back.

So guys do forget bags. I don't know how this guy forgot such a large size bag that was full, but he did. Hopefully, what everyone surmises here isn't true and the kid who picked it up thinks he was doing the right thing, and is looking for the owner.

In the world of canal anglers there are 2 types of people: anglers and non-anglers. Of the non-anglers there are 2 types: good, honest people and scumbags.

Unfortunately there are way too many scumbags willing to releive you of your gear than there are good honest people willing to track you down to return it.

If the bag was found by a fisherman, odds are the owner would have gotten it back the same day. (who here hasn't lost an item and had it returned?)

As for the scumbag? He needs his fix regardless of who he has to beg, borrow or steal from to get it!

The other unfortunate aspect of this event is that even if the POS is found and arrested, the bag will probably be gone for good and some other POS will step up to fill the void.
To paraphrase Classy Freddy Blasse' "These losers seem to be a dime a dozen, and I'd like to stop the person supplying the dimes!!!!"
