Bruce @ Canal starts getting my stuff when I walk in before I even say hi b/c he already knows what I need.
If I want a new rod, Eric @ cms has my wrap colors in the stack, and makes sure its exactly what I need (and he can actually spell my last name).
And the Edge is the clubhouse - they go more than the extra mile.

That doesn't happen at the big box - after you see the fish tank, there's not much else.

I buy all my stuff at M&D, and CMS. All repairs at Buckos and all my eels at The Tackle Box in Warwick.
BTW, you guys for RI, give the guy at the Tackle Box some business if you can. Veteran of Desert Storm and give vets a 10% discount. He gave me some frozen eels to rig the other day for next to nothing. Great guy to talk fishing with and open early and stays late.

Back before BPS we would all hang at Murats. You told Dave to wrap you a rod and he knew what reel seat, what color over what color, guide type and spacing you like. That's the way CMS and M&D is. I go into M&D and tell Mike I need 50 swivels and 50 split rings and he know what size I use. I have brought all 3 of my nephews to Mikes and Charlies and they have bought rods and reels. Now they drive to both stores without even considering BPS.

MURATS now we are talking. He could get you anything, if George didn't have it he would the next day.

Absolutely nothing wrong with you Greg, don't give it another thought.
Now, if you were buying golf clubs..........

Go local early! ;-)

I had a similar experience at another "chain" store. I have never gone back my self.

I shoot Beeman ICS 400s. They were the only ones who had them at the time so I drove up. The guy at the counter cut all 12 a 1/4 inch to short. They tried talking me into keeping them, I said no way, cut me 12 more the right length or I walk out with nothing. After getting a lesson on how it won't matter (that much of a "difference"), I got another dozen cut. From now on I buy bare shafts online, cut and fletch myself. The pre-fletched always have a few that come off or the vanes are curled from sitting in the box for so long. #^&#^&#^&#^& bass pro.
