back when i was a kid.. maybe 1986 or 89, i sailed my laser into the boats anchored at the Jazz Festival. I kid you not, there was a boat full of topless hot chicks having a water balloon fight with another boat full of topless hot chicks.
At that moment, i was the luckiest kid in the world...

im telling ya.. it was right out of Porky's or Animal house.. Another time i was at the Baths in Virgin Gorda and a zodiac containing 6 topless french girls came in to the beach.. bouncing from wave to wave. These girls were model material. Again.. luckiest person on the planet. :jump1:

The one that used to piss me off the most was when I was docked at Brewers Cove Haven Marina in Bullocks Cove. To get in there you have to get in a dredged channal fairly far out from the cove entrance because its just too shallow . So at say 6pm on a Saturday there are a lot of boats all in line just meandering in at say 4 knots. These huge tubs of power boats would be going along then either spaced out or whatever and would start heading toward the sides of the channel instead of hogging the middle like they were doing. Next thing you know they rev the engines to 2000 rpm to get a burst of speed to correct their course back into the middle of the channel. Of course this kicks up a huge wake right there in the middle of the narrow channel with small boats all around. I used to curse them and hold up the one finger salute to let them know they were jerks.

Hell, we still do it on the 60 to 90's made out of carbon. :hihi:

ps: the 30 foot protectors with twin 250/300 vrods are worth more than most people's houses.

It's over rated. You want a cool place to go? Go spend a week on Carriacou.

Really? you didn't like the Caves, JVD, Half Moon Bay?

Nebe 07-25-2012 07:44 PM

They were cool, but it's a friggen zoo with tourists. And topless French chics :hihi: I fell in love with Carriacou. It's like comparing Newport to Cuttyhunk.

Make sure he stays on his side of the cat unless you want to be the big spoon.

JVD is nice, the day is touristy, but the nights and away from white bay is quiet, peaceful and pretty nice.

go to the bahamas for better DIY fishing though....

Tarpon is better in the BVI.

Meant to say Cane Garden Bay, not HMB. I would like to get an efficiency apartment there and use that as my base of operations for a week. Might do it this winter...

Sounds good. You'd have to be prepared for a week long bender. If so your hired.

Same problems existed 40 years ago. Only requires money to own a boat. No skill needed.

FYI, you cannot "drive" a boat. Or an airplane for that matter. One can drive trucks and cars but not boat or airplanes. I learned that in the 1960's while enrolled in a safe boating and navigation course offered by the U.S. Power Squadrons. I read Chapman's "Piloting, Seamanship, and Small Boat Handling" handbook. Twice. Cover to cover. I was 16 years old. I'm now 62 years old. Nothing has changed. Weekend warriors still exist. Best advice is to get off the water by 9:30 A.M. on weekends.

Mr. Sandman 07-29-2012 07:35 AM

Just avoid weekends if you can, boating is a lot more fun on a Wednesday.

Personally, I would like to see a mandatory license and "road test" for boaters. That would cut down on the plug and play weekend yahoos. Further, more police and stiff fines for minor infractions. There are too many boaters, this would be a way to cut down and raise revenue at the same time.
