Same here in NW RI

Here near the east end of the canal, I swear it's been blowing harder since I got home than it ever did during Sandy.

Nebe 11-07-2012 07:20 PM

gusts to 90 on Block island, 20 foot seas and the green light at the end of old harbor jetty is gone... :smash::smash:

I rode the bike into that NE wind from Pleasant Street to the corner before the oil tanks this morning around 7 and I almost had a heart attack. Took me about 10 minutes too. Didn't even have to peddle on way back. On way home from work today at 4 going over the Bourne Bridge I almost went 2 lanes over in a gust. One of the worst crossings I have ever experienced in 25 years of driving back and forth daily.

Power out in marshfield ! House has been shaking all night
IMO worse the Sandy
I thought they were going to name major winter storms ?

From what i understand the weather channel is now naming winter storms, but NOAA is not recognizing it. Next on deck is Brutus. I think it helps their hype machine.

piemma 11-08-2012 07:21 AM

I believe this one is named Athena

Raven 11-08-2012 07:27 AM

Say it ain't so - love the green glow at night - just enough to see bass blow up on your needlefish. Wrote a story about it - have it somewhere.

13 days of nice weather starting this weekend. Storm in Montana moves out behind us dragging warm gulf air into the region

Ian 11-08-2012 10:35 AM

Break out the beach chairs and the bunker chunks! Its cleanup time...

Hope you're not just trying to lull me into a false sense of relief knowing I'll be at Block for the next 7 days or so?

I am in Falmouth and I agree with you. I think just that little turn of East vs. Northeast has the wind hitting harder at my house, less land to travel over. This storm has been a bit worse in terms of wind and definitely rain. Only difference may be the lack of storm surge I guess.

striperman36 11-08-2012 11:07 AM

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/show_plot.p...time_label=EST

Nice graph of barometric pressure wind speed gusts from buzm3.

Appears the storm in waning.

striperman36 11-08-2012 11:11 AM

Sandy was a bit lower in pressure 988 vs this storm which bottomed at 994. Still pretty strong storms

buckman 11-08-2012 05:24 PM

Neighbors front windows blew out. I lost downspouts and some trim. Why did I move here ??? :)
