I bet she would go down easy!

Today the pretty standard lost at sea gear is an epirb and a strobe.
A pair of fins will increase your range and ability to swim in any direction by about 10X or more. |

The same pfd can be set for auto or manual by removing the bobbin or pill, like you.

I have a pfd belt that works on a CO2 cartridge.... fits just under my surf belt....
i fell in twice a beavertail without it i was also a young stupid goog that shouldn't have been casting on the rocks with tevas on.. lesson learned Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
I have had a SOSPENDERS for ten years now. Anytime I go on a boat I wear it. Anytime I am going to be standing in moving water I weat it, like the North River and so on. Alwys have a couple of recharge setups as well. It works on manual or auto inflate upon dunking.

A manual CO2 belt pdf sounds like a good plan B!

The pfd belt may not be a good idea if you top heavy with a large gut unless you can breath out of your $ss

What if it's mounted like a "belt buckle"? |
I use a spot messenger-beacon all the time. I can text my wife with it to tell her my status/location and it shows her where I am on a chart too. haven't needed to use emergency button yet though...

The problem I have is that if your taking hits by waves the pfd will need to be rinsed like most of your gear. This will entail undoing the velcro, removing and rinsing the bladder. I've taken to many chances in the past which means my number is next, looks like I will be wearing it more often when near ledges and moving water. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

From a technical POV, the Standard Horizon HX851 Floating VHF/GPS, strobe, and distress calling looks like the best value.

Dump the iphone for a Galaxy Active. Waterproof to 10 feet.
