Nice story, Larry! Living life with humility is so much more rewarding than without..... You really have to feel sorry for those SOBs who have gotten through their life without getting their knees skinned up at least once..... As Clammer says, enjoy what you have!

Not for nothing, but your one of the most generous people I have ever come across. The other part well.............................................. ..............................................

Larry, I bet that means more to that other gent than it ever could to you. Not many people these days willing to help out a newbie, more likely to make fun of them or ignore them. I give credit to Back Beach for helping me out. My first year learning the canal he gave me invaluable advice, even after I crossed casts with him 3 minutes in. 5/0 as well, he taught me more than he probably knows and even set me up with some waders. A few tips really go a long way to for newbies (especially at the canal).

It helps to have a good attitude to begin with, good for you helping someone out and everyone working together to have fun because that is what it's all about. Congrats on your PB.
It's easy to give up, it takes effort to man up and face the challenges, sometimes you have to approach things a bit different. Then again, sometimes the others messing up your fishing just cannot or will not budge and you wind up go someplace else. It happens.
Good to hear most had a good time.

After Friday and Sat. there for me not catching, I decided to try elsewhere Sunday before dawn as the tide was good, well no love there all I got was windburned, cold and wet. Left after a couple hours of flogging the water and headed to the big river, I got a message guys were bailing fish at a spot east end so I parked and got on my bike, never made it that far east as I saw rods bent and found enough room between guys at an outcropping to my left and a couple fishing to my right who turned out to be Charlie Cinto and his friend Janet who was fishing the canal for her first time, she was tied into a high 20's fish and landed her first canal bass. I managed 3 fish that I took pics of and entered in the gotight tourney, they swam away alive and well. Lost a monster that came unbuttoned on a sebile stik shad:wall: Got a couple other shorter fish but it was a good day for me too.

Slip nice seeing yah Sunday. Went home and my buddy at work from Michigan who overslept was pretty bummed. He asked if the afternoon would be good and I said maybe lets head back down. Well a dozen fish later and no crowds He gets his first two stripers both keepers and a happy camper! Short lived happiness when I told him he I would carry his pole and he had to carry out the fish! Hey thats one reason I toos most of them back!

I bet your sleepy friend was bummed, good of you to go back down with him though and that is nice he got fish. Carrying a rod is nice of you, you ain't no sherpa. prepare for a real zoo this coming weekend, I just hope there are lots of Bruins fans that won't make the tide from a hangover or something :)
