brain re-programing

it's the mental associations you make with things that cause you to react
negatively or positively towards them... and i believe there are stop smoking tapes you can buy to change your mind set...for about ten bucks... but remember that smoke is dust....and within that dust is the nicotine,,,which by the way is an insecticide utilized by cotton growers to kill the cotton boweevil
because NOTHING else will.... power walking is better than jogging because is less traumatic to your joints.... and you don't build up carbon dioxide and fatigue yourself so readily..

rivsie11 03-29-2005 11:54 AM

Hang in there Fishaholic,

My Mom and Dad quit 1 year ago this month...My Dad had pretty much smoked non-filtered Camels for 45 years. If you can stop smoking those things anything is possible.

Is great going to their house now. No cigarette smell and the grandkids don't stink when they come home...

reelecstasy 03-29-2005 11:58 AM

I gotta quit :smash:

rivsie11 03-29-2005 01:28 PM

I quit smoking about 11 years ago and then quit Copenhagen about 2 years later... Copenhagen was much harder. :bc: :bc: :af: :af: :wall: (I did two tins a day, which is roughly the equivalent nicotine of 6 packs of smokes)

One thing I remember: After about a month or so I noticed my taste buds came back and so did smells (not always good). I also remember how nicotine kinda keeps you in a bit of a haze that you never noticed until you quit...

Iwannakeeper 03-29-2005 04:53 PM

keep up the good work guys......you won't regret it.

and remember " you used to smoke" " you used to be a smoker"

ThrowingTimber 03-29-2005 06:19 PM

Quitting?!, hell, I'll be starting up again..... cigars on the beach :uhuh: :) johnny

Raven 03-29-2005 10:17 PM

smoking and eating

the reason your body craves food is because it is no longer working fulltime with all its eliminatory organs to rid the body of the INSECTICIDE nicotine
and the oral stimulation is also absent. Plus your tastebuds return to normal.

Go For It !!!

Broke my ankle in February. Three weeks into cast got a wicked chest cold. Coughed all night every 15 min like clockwork. Lungs hurt so bad thought I was gonna cough up my testicles. Stopped smoking and now it is 2 months and 1 week without a smoke. Wife goes outside and smells when she comes in. Hope she'll stop. Came out of Home Depot the other day and followed a guy who lit up all the way to his car then walked back to mine. But now I say "I choose not to smoke" and it's getting better.

Hang in there - It'll be worth it for all of us.

Sarge :wid:

If your game, we can try to shake this nasty habit together. Lets set a date and if one of us starts smoking again then he owes the other a couple of plugs or something. :bl:

reelecstasy 04-06-2005 02:00 PM

I'm game... :buds:

Alrighty then, lets choose a date :err: The first one to break owes the other a plug of his choice (please don't pick one of those gold plated ones from the smithsonian). Not sure if I'll try the patch or gum or just go cold turkey. Been smoking since I was a teen, almost 30 years now(on and off). I think its time to stop this silliness. Maybe after I'll try to quite sniffin the glue :tm:

reelecstasy 04-06-2005 03:00 PM

one thing at a time :D

How soon? The date I picked is a ways out, I know I know but hey. Lots of things to consider and it was the most feasible for me... I say three plugs, and choice of builders, gotta beg, borrow, and rump swab to get em..
It's been 19yrs... do about 2 1/2 packs a day now of reds, almost $14..over 5k a year !!! stupid :smash:

Wow, thats a lot of tobacky, 2 1/2 per day! A pack will last me at least 2 days, unless I'm chasing them down with beer on a weekend. I can't smoke at work, home or in my new truck. My GF thinks I quit a few months ago and he she finds out I didn't she'll kill me for sure. 3 plugs are fair, thats only 3 or 4 days of smoking for you :smokin: What date did you have in mind?

reelecstasy 04-06-2005 03:34 PM

May 5th, whatdoyasay?

I don't know how many people see you, but I am watched by a few :hidin:
A man's word is good enough for me, you can lie to your girlfriend and to your mother but not to your friends.. :hihi:

Put it on the calendar, I did...
