Keep a log, fish deeper waters in the boat, target fluke, swim out farther. Catch COWS

Rappin Mikey 04-14-2005 07:46 PM

I bought a fishing kayak. That about sums it up!

So now you can put your sand eels out farther now, right?

How is married life?

macojoe 04-14-2005 09:58 PM

I am with you Cape, going to chase more Cod this year!!

But will have to pic days!! 20 miles out of Chatam with a 20 footer :rollem:

capesams 04-14-2005 10:11 PM

some do it and more in a 19'er...you can find fish 10-11 miles out. 3 miles out down in welfoot.

Tburg 04-14-2005 10:26 PM

Invent a cure for the dreaded seal infestation on the lower Cape... :hihi:

Fish more nights....fish more days......fish more mornings..... :uhuh:

Learn the Canal better...getting there but cost alot of jigs so far.....

Hit more spots......get back into Yak fishing....

Notaro 04-14-2005 11:01 PM

also, i would like to catch more flukes on the shore and boat. i need more practice on distance casting, bassing skills, and working lures.

Raider Ronnie 04-15-2005 04:02 AM

My plan

To put my 7 year old son Raider Leo onto a bass eclipsing his last years best
(of 19bs) wire line jiggin by himself with no help other that me netting the fish! I didn't have as a member of the MSBA juniors yet, so the fish couldn't be entered for the clubs derby! :smash: :smash: :smash:
but he is a member now!!! ;)
Getting Leo a cod eclipsing his last years best of 24 lbs in over 300 ft of water
on a jig (NOT bait), again with no help other than me gaffing the fish next to the boat!
Both at 6 years old!!! :kewl:
Getting my other son, 4 year old Matty his first keeper bass, blue & cod,
all from the boat of course!!! ;)

Crafty Angler 04-15-2005 06:00 AM

My plans for the coming season will be pretty much like last year's - although I do want to start keeping a log.

The only other thing I'll be doing is trying to keep an eye on the great influx of guys threatening to come to RI :hihi:

Ahhh...they're probably headed for SoCo ...that's where all the damned fish are anyway....:hidin:

MakoMike 04-15-2005 06:22 AM

John,
I just plan to fish morre, particularly in the canyons. Inshore, offshore, just more fishing.

Gotofish 04-15-2005 07:52 AM

I really want to fish more than I did last season and hopefully fish smarter too. I want to hone my fluking skills, get a couple more funny fish but most importantly, but MOST importantly, I really hope to get a bluefin into my boat!

RickBomba 04-15-2005 08:18 AM

Sinking Mikey's kayak with my new howitzer!
Like to write more, but I'm going fishing right now!!!
Later,
Rick

Motor Fish 04-15-2005 08:24 AM

Less fishing, more catching. That would be nice....

Moses 04-15-2005 08:26 AM

This will be my first full season with a boat, so when the weather is right;
- fish the Elizabeth Island shoreline
- fish monomoy area
- fish mv, concentrating mostly on gh corner
- fish between plymouth & canal

From shore;
- fish the canal as many times during the week b4/after work as possible
- fish chatham area, including monomoy as long as rules don't change

For both, include my son, brother, father and friends whenever possible.

Keep a detailed log book with more than the date/time fishing.

Catch more on my own wood and wood I have acquired.

Fish On 04-15-2005 09:49 AM

Catch my first bluefin tuna.
Fish the Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tourney , but actually get some points this time.
Get on the main leader board at the MV Derby, not necessarily be there at the end, but just get my name up there for a time.
Catch my first 40.
Attend a couple more MSBA meetings than just 1 or 2.
Learn from all the experts on SB.com.

schoolie monster 04-15-2005 02:23 PM

I'm not even going to say "I want to fish from the surf more this year" 'cause its pointless. It won't happen.

Learn a couple more of the boston harbor islands inside and out. Get better at finding bait and bring along some eels for backup.

Fish a little deeper structure and rips to try and get a few bigger fish.

Flyfish some more.

Get my dad a nice bass (20lbs+)

Get along better with my daughter when she comes out (I lost a little patience with her at times last summer).

That should be good. I like to do a variety of things fishing plastic, topwater, flies and bait. Just keep getting better at all of them. Stay versatile.

Good luck everyone... can't wait to get this season rollin'.

Bazza 04-15-2005 07:12 PM

I hope to try and get out more. I hope gas prices will be going down (does not look to good)
Goals:
Try the canal more with jigs
Fish monomoy- take the ferry
Fish RI
more fly fishing

hooked 04-16-2005 08:59 AM

fish more wood
fish alone less
spend less time online and more time on the water
fish more tides as opposed to getting out when I can
put my kids on keepers
commando trip to one of the islands during Fall

Got Stripers 04-16-2005 07:24 PM

To move on.

Slingah 04-16-2005 07:29 PM

To break 50# and maybe learn to fish the canal

Joey G 04-16-2005 07:31 PM

Go large on a BigFish wood. :uhuh:

Raider Ronnie 04-16-2005 08:49 PM

Late season plan!
Show up on the Cape with Mooseknuckle & the Sea Monkey to throw some eels and get that fish that Bigfish has been hoping to catch :laugha:

Rob Rockcrawler 04-16-2005 09:58 PM

I gotta find a few new places to fish, i got stuck in a rut last year with about 5 spots. Fish more beaches this year. Most importantly, i gotta make my new girlfriend atleast be cool with fishing. I asked what she would rather do today, rake leaves or fish? She said rake leaves, i bout had a heart attack :lossinit:
AND try to break the 40 mark this year. I gotta do a lot of fishing this season before a job takes me away from our striped friends.

chris L 04-18-2005 02:14 PM

sounds good to me ! thanks sandman

I keep saying Im going to take that long ride there someday .

Mr. Sandman 04-18-2005 06:18 PM

JohnR,
Good! :usd: Picking the universal date will be the difficult part. When the fall approaches and everyones plans firm up, let me know what works for you.
Guys, keep in mind I don't have a waterfront mansion and I can not provide sleeping accomadations for the homeless
But I have a nice yard with plenty of space and the place is easy to find.

Fish On 04-18-2005 11:02 PM

All I can say is "what a gentleman"! I'd love to have a visit and share a few fish stories during the derby. I still owe you a boat trip for that awesome shore casting tour you gve me and my friends last year.

likwid 04-19-2005 07:51 AM

BrianS 04-19-2005 10:14 AM

denial is not just a river in egypt.

but thats ok... you dont need to worry until Larry starts catching...

just a matter of time before one of you does something.

likwid 04-19-2005 10:16 AM

Thats all well and good.
You can take the Alert over to Cuttyhunk, just don't go on the north side. :D

BrianS 04-19-2005 11:03 AM

Actions speak louder than words there son... anyone can open a book or read a map....
But thats ok...
Your so cute when you act all knowledgeable..

:rotf3:

likwid 04-19-2005 11:34 AM

So when are you buying a leverdrag 7000 since I just got mine? :rotf2:

BrianS 04-19-2005 11:52 AM

I rest my case...

and with that I return you to your previously unhijacked post.

:topic:

oh, I might as well contribute.

Get my cod fix out of the way on the 30th and 14th....

Then its time to stake my claim on my spot at the canal, and whereever my uncle (who owns the boat) wants to go.... prolly a whole bunch of RI and Westport.
