homerun, you go buy a penn 113hsp and a 5'6" jigging rod made for wire. You spool 1/3 dacron,300' of wire, and 30' of flouro leader. go into the current at 2 - 2.5 knots, attatch a 3oz bucktail, let out all wire and 50' of dacron, stuff rod in holder, grab dacron , and jerk!!!!!!!!!!( IN ABOUT 30' - 40' OF WATER ) Fish on , reel in , bleed , ice , fillet , cook , eat. repeat. bon apetite!!!!!!

Raider Ronnie 07-08-2005 07:09 PM

Homerun,
Where you from?
I'll be wire line jiggin for the next few weeks off ptown, leaving from Plymouth,
I may be able to take you out if you want to try!

fishermom 07-08-2005 10:12 PM

Hey BF........how many bigfish have you caught this year??? Maybe you should try wire line :laugha: ............

BigFish 07-08-2005 10:14 PM

Zero......I'll pull wire when I retire! :rotf2: <smilie

Got Stripers 07-09-2005 12:23 AM

I'm suggesting there are other methods and wire line isn't for everyone. Here's a perfect example, the day on the Cabo, there was a 75 year old dad along. He wasn't physically capable of jigging wire, but I put my spare rod in his hands while drifting and showed him what to do and 20 minutes later I watched 40 years melt off that man as he fought and landed a sweet 24 lb fish. I'm always looking for new ways to skin a cat, that's all I was trying to impart and yes wire is too much friggen work for my taste.

He is also in better stape than most guys here!!! :humpty:

Only 1 way for Bigfish (plugs)
So he needs to knock us for liking other ways!!!
All the while he starts a tread of how crappy the fishing has been for him this year!!! :laugha:

BigFish 07-09-2005 08:53 AM

Ron just keeps knocking it.....I said exactly what GotStripers said Ron....yet you keep taking shots......I think I will stay on the sand and you stay on the ocean and we will do fine Ron. I think folks here know the score Ron and I think they know when I am joking...look at your last post! You continue to extoll the virtues of wire line jigging, talking about how these guys you know do nothing but jig and catching lots of fish and that is fabulous....but you continue to knock others on their methods and take shots at me. Your funny Ron and quite pathetic.

Not to mention you read into everything what you want....my thread was about how I think the fishing has been very slow....most concurred Ron......do you know what concurred means? :rotf2: <smilie

You argue/discuss the same way a taunted 8 year old would.....with no intellect, maturity or respect. :rollem:

Larry,
When have I ever knocked fishing plugs? NEVER
You on the other hand,
How many times have you made plans to come jiggin with me and the night before, you come up with some lame excuse why you cna't make,
when all the while you had NO intentions of going anyway!!!

By the way,
The paint work on the plug you gave me sucks, runs all over it!!! :rotf3:

BigFish 07-09-2005 09:35 AM

Wrong Ron...I don't commit and bag out...I have been up front with you and told you I could not go.

I knew the 8 year old would lash out at the plug I gave him....I just knew it. :rollem:

BigFish 07-09-2005 09:36 AM

Done here Ron....moving on! These folks don't want to hear it and I am growing weary. Got a cookout to go to! :bounce:

Purists.

I enjoy catching bass with hook and line.

Whats attached to the hook, and the kind of line (and appropriate rod and reel) doesn't matter to me.

Depends on the situation, conditions, place and time.
