Have mostly been fishing the boat (comm season) and now that I have relocated and found decent fish close to home without having to deal with the damn seals, it has been a little easier. I think about it every night weather or not to make the haul to the cape due to gas, especially since I'm not working.
The thing that is really affecting me is how gas prices are affecting every thing else. Eels have gone up every where due to gas costs going up to transport them to the shops.

I need lessons on how to rig up the 30+ dead eels I have in the future mother in laws freezer.

Gas sucks. My jeep costs about 50$$ to fill and i only get about 200 miles of driving. But I will still be going down to the cape as much as possible as long as there are fish.

My old sand sled would be s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g fumes after the Clinton-Truro run. Another tank for the beach, another for the ride home, another for the commute that week! It was a great truck( still is) but the Jimmy is a Godsend. When I started pumping gas at Duarte's in P-town back in the 1900's Regular was 39.9 and Premium was 43.9 a gallon! I can't believe it's 3 bucks a gallon more now!

I cant complain...I live 6 miles from work so I save there. If I only use the truck for work I can get a months worth of trips to the office and back.

I get about 18mpg in the 5.3L v8 so it isnt that bad...I get about 330-350 miles in my tank.

The high prices of gas do suck but like another poster stated I dont drink, smoke or even gamble so my vice is fishing and part of fishing is gas.

Maybe we could set up a trip sharing pay for half of the gas kinda thing???

Speaking of my truck I just got half the way to the cape and my freakin truck crapped the bed. Me and my vehicle have a love/hate relationship :nailem: . I am f'n pissed especially since I bought 12 eels and filled my freaking tank for an all night trip.

Holy Chit

Yup - Gas is getting up there. Put in 25 gallons yesterday to go out towards Isles of Shoals off N.H. $70.00 please - Hello ????

Didn't get any strippers but 2KR was fun for kids with 20-25 Dog Fish taken and about 10 Skates.

The Dogfish I didn't mind tearing up getting them off the hook but are the Skates good eating ? I heard someplace you can bbq them for pretty good taste.

Sarge :behead:

Regarding trip sharing, check out www.carpoolworld.com. These folks offer a very slick product for trip sharing, with the capability of setting up separate, independent ride share groups. I think the usual application of this technology is for home-to-work commuting, but it seems like it would work great for anglers wanting to share expenses, minimize consumption of petroleum, and limit greenhouse and other bad emissions.
