The herring are fun but to be honest they are a lot of work to keep alive until the big fish come in. I do it every year and there is no question they work but man what a p.i.t.a. to get the bait to the location in June. Lots of effort and it upsets me if a little fish starts messing with my live bait that is almost like a pet I have had it so long.
Next spring I will be fishing storm shads on light gear in place of the live bait during the day. I will be experimenting with different dead (fresh) squid rigs I cooked up too. At night though it is all plugs...the last two seasons springtime is wonderful for JB150's and small bernzy swimmers . I can't wait!! |
Three things:
1.storms 2.storms 3.storms |
Anything doesn't die when you stick a hook in it.
