most agree its a classless thing to do .i agree its better to move down current 50 yds and waite for YOUR cast but that makes too much sense..20+ yrs now i,ve been a reg ,reg, canal rat ,and NO i do not cast over a mans head ,out of respect and hope that it dont happen to me....note i will if he saids its ok w/ propper cond. at the time....its no class for the head hunters that cant waite.....

slander

n 1: words falsely spoken that damage the reputation of another 2: an abusive attack on a person's character or good name [syn: aspersion, calumny, defamation, denigration] v : charge falsely or with malicious intent; attack the good name and reputation of someone; "The journalists have defamed me!" "The article in the paper sullied my reputation" [syn: defame, smirch, asperse, denigrate, calumniate, smear, sully, besmirch

Clambelly...Slander?Definition is everything.

Sometimes it wouldn't hurt to research before you post.

I was fortunate to have two early morning visits to the ditch Sun and Mon. - both days same spot with the same guy to my left and two different guys to my right each day. We all knew what we were doing and were considerate of each other. We all caught fish and left happy.
I did notice the some bikers come buy during brief topwater activity, but none pulled the trigger over us.
As far as these Greek guys, I'm sure that there be more people keeping an eye on them, thanks to the publicity.
If I was approached by a handful of angry fishermen, knowing the money they have shelled out to fish the Canal right and just looking to have a ?? relaxing ?? day out fishing, that would most likely change my attitude.

BigFish 06-02-2006 05:12 PM

Spence....you surf where I was fishing first....you take your life in your hands. As for boat fishermen.....you drift into my casting range and its hull bouncing time!:bl: I would never intentionally injure someone....simply making a point that you are in my zone......and deserve a little respect!:lasso:

BEETLE 06-02-2006 05:15 PM

Cutting lines or intentional entanglement is probably the best tact(s) to take, and no worries about getting sued. I'm sure that gets the point across.

Doesn't have to be intentional...even the best of us don't cast perfectly all the time  :smash:

I'm just trying to ensure any impressionable young minds don't think it's ok if BF does it :devil2:

NIB 06-02-2006 06:32 PM

If u fish at night u find u don't have that problem.
I have seen the mad biker gang, bunch of punks.
Sounds like a perfect example of everthing thats wrong with kids today. No respect. If i ever did something like that when i was young i better be prepared for a azz beating. From my old man if he found out.
I would volunteer to be there propa daddy for the day an learn em some manners.

Saltheart 06-02-2006 06:40 PM

The guy casting bait over me and Smokey was in the dead of night. You just can't avoid them all the time.

TheSpecialist 06-02-2006 09:44 PM

I am Greek and I took no offense to what Bob Thomas said. Personally I think they should be called the Malakas. If they did it to me I would stick a size 12 up their rear.

Thanks, Specialist. . . I meant no harm or "slander" by it...just how we've come to know them

tynan19 06-02-2006 10:37 PM

Man If I pissed off BigFish in the middle of the night I would be a little scared!:err: Of course I wouldn't do any thing like this so I have no worries.

Territorial Imperative

The Dad Fisherman 06-02-2006 11:36 PM

How do you seperate the Men from the Boys in the Greek Army?

With a Crowbar. :hee:

Hey, I'm a Irish, French, and Polish. I'm a Drinker and a Lover.....but I can't do either one right. (Oh No I think I just Slandered myself)

Ottoluna 06-03-2006 12:27 AM

in some other states tossing the line over someones head can be assault and you got the right to protect yourself. cock the trigger and play can i hit a rod tip at night. really scare the piss out of the jerks.

Slingah 06-03-2006 01:02 AM

2 wrongs dont make a right....although I have been guilty of casting in the general direction of a vessel or two...but it aint really worth maybe hurting someone over a fish......

The Duke 06-03-2006 01:44 AM

I would not start with the Greek jokes.

We catch not fish.

clambelly 06-03-2006 09:51 AM

i guess slander was the wrong word. ill try to do my research next time. my point was, why specificly point out certain individuals that aren't here to defend themselves? i know for a fact that the guys in question do not participate on these boards, so they have no way to respond HERE. sorry for the confusion. ill try not to step out of line again :gorez:

Perhaps you can tell them that what they do is not cool?

I believe it's a federal offense to possess a firearm on Canal property.

BigFish uses conversation and reason to explain to another fisher why he should not cast over his head

Stupid sumbiatch

Anyone who would ntentionally piss off Bigfish would probably qualify as a person who underachieves intellectually. As a matter of fact I would have to say that persons I.Q. is more than likely in the minus range. Maybe even ameoba-like.:bounce:
