The Outer Cape with Truro as the most senic. The dunes behind you ,and the waves crashing, now if there were more fish, instead of seals that would be outstanding.

I wonder whatever happened to that original reggie?

Aquinnah southside from Squibnocket to the north shore at Menemsha creek. If you walk this whole stretch and don't catch a fish your lures are contaminated, throw them away.

bassballer 01-11-2009 02:16 PM

would have to be from middletown, to brenton point

cutty is to shabby either.

hyefisherman2 01-11-2009 06:37 PM

the cape and the islands!! in particular buzzards bay area and the canal

mv by far my favorite place as well, hence my license plate "SQUIBY"

If I'm traveling than M.V. is tops for me.

Sea Flat 01-12-2009 11:58 AM

I have grown to love the Elizabeth Islands over the past two years. Such beautiful scenery and always some fish to be had someplace.

NIB 01-13-2009 06:31 AM

This is a tough one as I have seen a good part of the striper coast.
While I have never been to the Vineyaad or Cuttyhunk.I would have to say Montauk is my favorite. In no other place is there a community of surfcasters like there is in Montauk. New Yorkers can be hard,They covet their jewel out there, but they warm up in time.I could pull into the lower lot and never wet a line and not be board at all. While I have traveled quite a bit and have run into the most gracious people you could meet..And in the process I have made some good friends along the way...There's just nothing that can compare to "M"..
I just love fishing the sweeping currents.
If you took the current out of striper fishing I think I would rather play golf or checkers or something.

the backbeaches of the Outer cape and the islands of N.&S. Monomoy.Having the privilage of staying in the dune shacks on the Backside and walking the deserted beaches is actually religeous to me.Walking the expansive flats of the Islands stalking cruising fish in calfdeep water is just as humbling. There's a few other places on the cape but mentioning them will upset a very close and dear friend with the initials T.C.Each area has it's merits. Also,a couple of Islands between The Rock& M.V. have been a special hideout.Like"redlite" says.Realy it is the HUNT.

Out all the places I have surf fished...the best stretch of beach for the plug aficionado (not the bottom dwellers) is the south side of BI. Anyplace from Old Harbor Point to SW point. To me that is the ultimate NE surf casters nirvana. It combines the best of everything. Location, structure, relative size, access, big water and low crowds and natural beauty. Yeah, other places have better single attributes that make them attractive...ie, Montauk, Cutty, MV, and many parts of the cape have some very appealing aspects but their drawbacks make them less ideal...but Block I and in particular the south side of block has the best combined attributes IMO.

Back Beach 01-13-2009 10:23 AM

Anywhere there's a large concentration of fish available. For me, every place has its own unique charm.

EarnedStripes44 01-13-2009 12:54 PM

I'd have to the East River, NY.

EarnedStripes44 01-13-2009 12:56 PM

Also....winter time, Virginia Beach

JLH 01-13-2009 01:30 PM

I haven’t traveled to many of the places others here have fished. I do really enjoy the area I fish most often from Naps to FPR but need to start doing a little more exploring.

Joe 01-13-2009 03:49 PM

Block Island south side - very, very reliable. I've had my most memorable experiences fishing there.

LeCounts1099 01-13-2009 04:44 PM

If you mean the stretch I can & will talk about on- line because it's all in the past? :hihi:

That stretch from Nauset North Lot, to Head of the Meadow! LOT of room & fishy water in there, most foot- accessible only! :kewl: :walk:

Do I even have to mention in those no- drive zones I was the only human seen there fishing late nights 98% of my trips even during prime- time? (Sept/ Oct. mid- late 90s). Ah... big Bass consistently from the beach with solitude too! Amid Cape Cods' natural Fall- time splendor & beauty! That was THE place/ those were the days! :p

I'll tell you about my favorite stretch(es) today in about 20 years! (a la Frank D.-- only once I'm done w/ these beaches myself! ;) )

Slingah 01-13-2009 05:16 PM

"local".....then what lecounts1099 said...:D

While I love fishing the NH rocky shoreline. The outer cape from Ballston beach North to Race Point just can't be beat. First got to fish there in 1965 and I've been hooked on the area ever since. Could do without the mung season but otherwise love the area.

Nebe 01-13-2009 08:16 PM

I like the stretch from the hurricane barrior to the providence place mall. No where else can you catch coney island whitefish with such great abundance.

Striper_Haven_03 01-13-2009 09:00 PM

Seems as though MV,Outer Cape and BI are the pretty popular.

I have fished MV frequently in the past (worked and lived there for 3 years, mostly squibby) and I would have to say my "little" striper hide-out here in Americas Hometown would have to take the cake. So little is said (or known) about this rocky shoreline from Ellisville to Plymouth Beach. While not all of it holds "large" there are some hidden waters here that are always good for a 35-40 lb fish year in and year out. And the best part, you ALWAYS have these places to yourself.

Hey MARTY....I think we know each other, even fished together a couple of times...this is Joe from vermont....I also fish Ogunquit almost exclusively....but reading these posts, of regular big fish, great structure, a little privacy, makes me want to fish a lot of other spots. But if I'm right Marty, you did manage a gorgeous 42" this summer....I hope all is great with you...

When the OBX is on it can be red hot but for consistant action Block Island sure would be hard to beat as my favorite.

Spinfish 01-14-2009 10:09 PM

To narrow it down on the back beach, for me its fishing through from Longnook to Balston, or a longer huff from Ballston to Newcomb.

Late summer on a late night drop, it's a beautiful place.

Big Water 01-15-2009 09:06 AM

Favorite!

Anywhere on Cutty is not a bad place to be!:wavey:

Fish_Eye 01-15-2009 01:05 PM

Ahhhh....the good ole days of the backside from LeCounts to Highhead. You could get out of the truck, sniff the air and KNEW you were gonna catch at least 1 fish over 30# and be pizzed cause you only got 6. Nothin but waders, a bucket of eels, a tin and a jolt. Light travelin. Walk 3 to 10 miles a night poundin the sand......and then the seals took over.....Now, Westport. 8 miles each way instead of 100+ and no need to fish all night. If the wind is bad or the water is dirty, no wasted time. Wetsuit, korkers, tin and bucket of eels.. Hellava lot harder. But do I EVER miss the sands of the big back beaches.........someday........

I may have gotten one from you 2 years ago (didn't even get one last year) but this particular thread started in the year 2000.

There are a lot of us that feel that access is broken there (and no, we don't think it was your fault  )
