Sorry for your loss. I am so paranoid of fire, many times have driven back home to make sure everything is off.

Labrador1 02-28-2007 06:14 PM

Terrible! Sorry to hear it.

bloocrab 02-28-2007 06:18 PM

 That's terrible -

Like you said,, no one got hurt....but it still SUX!

capesams 02-28-2007 06:27 PM

Well! it's been a day fa shore.....First off,I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and loan of tool's and offer's of help.I can't say enough for all the great folk's here and the other's in this town which we/I live.

fire marshall's[2] found nothing as to how it started.. .But signed off as to not hold thing's up.

Insurance people sent a great adjuster out,,went beyond standard by the book crap...pushing things through without all the red tape.

We've got the disstuction crew line up....building inspector will sign off the minute we place the building plans on his desk...framing crew lined up...we have a rental lined up to work out of for the time being. We still have most of our larger and smaller hand tools, so we'll pick-up a smaller tablesaw etc. to keep going.

Off for a quick nap before I fall down..but Again..I want to thank you all for the kind words and offer's of help.

steve.

gldnbear93 02-28-2007 06:35 PM

what a terrible thing to have happen. Sorry for your losses. At least no one was injured and it sounds like the rebuilding process is already well started. Hopefully things won't get hung up there. I wish you well.

nightfighter 02-28-2007 06:35 PM

When the going gets tough.....

Good progress since this morning!

I will be interested in the plans, ie. what are you going to add/change...

Tool offer still stands.

pmueller 02-28-2007 07:10 PM

Sorry for the heartache, but the bright note is no one was hurt. You did not mention it. The devastation that a fire brings to your personal life, is horendous. Words can't describe.

Tagger 02-28-2007 10:51 PM

Hey Steve ,,, just talking to someone this happened too .. Mac was there also .. He said no problem the insurance company paying off on the building . They cut him a check with in a week .. Contents was another story . They said could take up to 3 months .. He hired a guy that went thru the burnt up stuff and for a percentage ,,I want to say ten . The guy wrote up all the items and pushed the paper work thru .. He said it was well worth it because the guy put every little tiny thing down .. The guy was pricing a pound of 16d nails at HD to put on the list .. ask Mac .

With alot of phone calls,,hand shaking and thank you's . We moved into our new temp. shop[bare] ..going shopping today for for some larger pcs of equipment must have to keep going...///dug up all my coffee cans in the back yard/// but what the heck..can't take it with you...support from everyone has been great.sure takes the bite out of this mess.

the only thing that I'll miss is my grandfathers bandsaw...it was well over 100 years old...I remember as a kid standing there watching him cutting out profiles of shore birds so he could carve them into life like birds.

Bobby M the telly phoneman...how the H*** are ya:wavey:

BigFish 03-02-2007 08:58 AM

Capesams....that is a shame losing that bandsaw. Keep the memories!:uhuh:

Raven 03-02-2007 08:59 AM

Steve?

Did that band saw (your grandfather's) have antique value? beyond it's replacement cost?

just wondered... i know they're treating you well....
