If this is "The LAST Straw" why are we still talking about it?

I don't go to DD anymore either. 3 times in a row this happened.

I go to the drive up. I ask for a Medium, Hot, Cream, No sugar, On the dark side. I get a cup of coffee milk. They couldn't make it any lighter if they just gave me a cup of milk.

I pulled around front, took the cup inside and said to the manager: "Look at this! This is on the dark side? Does that person understand English?" The manager's response was for me to "calm down". I handed her the cup and said "here you drink it. I'm done with Dunkin Donuts.

Now you guys know I'm on the road all day. Probably $30 a week in DD coffee. 50 weeks. $1500. They can go to hell. Fortunately I have found a lot of Starbucks popping up on the interstates and I love their coffee.

A medium (grande) at Starbucks is $2.00. A medium at DD is $1.82.
You need to drive an Cadillac to afford the 18 cents???

Rockport24 12-07-2007 12:27 PM

yeah the big misconception of starbucks is that their coffee is expensive, their regular coffee isn't, it's the friggin' espresso drinks that are 3/4 milk anyway that cost $4

RIROCKHOUND 12-07-2007 03:01 PM

I agree.
I hated starbucks on principal for a long time, but truth be told:
they pay their employees decent wage and give the some benefits, and you get reasonably bright, people who can understand your order. Worth the $0.18 per cup for a consistent product. The one in Wakefield knows my order, fills my mug with bold, no room for cream, and I walk out under $2.0 0 since they drop 10cents off if you dont take a cup... Screw D&D

Hooter wannabe's.

stripersnipr 12-21-2007 08:28 AM

I came to the conclusion yesterday while standing in line to get a medium black, that for the most part D&D customers aint much better than the employees. As I'm standing behind two soccer moms ordering their Choco Moco Freakin Lattes who then wait until the coffees are in front of them to start scrounging their purse for "exact" change gabbing away about Christmas shopping. Pay with their exact change and then start scrounging for a tip to put in the jar on the counter and then ask if they have gift cards. They're told yes and then start a debate on who it would be a good gift for and how much they should spend on it. I turned around and left. Merry freakin Christmas. I went to Mary Lous.

I think the kid meant that you could talk to him at the window rather than through the speaker. Was probably not busy.

...mmmmm...nope....took my order and said I could pull up "if I want"....did not ask me to repeat at the window when I got there (i figured he didnt get the order through the speaker) Just made me laugh.......

The other really distressing thing about Dunkin' is the styrofoam cups. They will still be in the land fill in 1000 years. That's a fact! Syrofoam just doesn't degrade quickly.

Starbucks uses paper cups that have a percentage of recycled material in them. The paper cups degrades in about 3 weeks.

Raven 12-26-2007 11:21 AM

tasters choice

is the other alternative....

they came out with their gourmet roast coffee again
mmmm mmm mmmmmmmm

and at about 25 cents per cup ...with chocolate rasberry
creamer it will save you a bundle over the pricey starbucks
brand... and then some... and man oh man..... is it GOOD !:kewl:

and since your using a normal ceramic cup thats reusable
there's no worry about biodegradable materials.

bloocrab 12-26-2007 04:44 PM

Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks were both open on Christmas Day.
:(

What a shame - remember when most things were closed on Sundays?....I know, wrong thread, ....but still sad imo-
