Well the wife and I have decided to move to Australia (she's from there) at the end of October, so this could very well be my last season chasing stripers. I would like to spend more time surf fishing at night, find a few more spots to do that up here on the north shore, make more trips to rhody and learn some spots down there better, fish the canal for the first time, and just enjoy myself during it all.:uhuh:

I almost forgot, find my confidence/comfort zone fishing darters!

hyefisherman2 01-01-2008 11:37 PM

break 20lbs and break it earlier in the season :hihi:

bassballer 01-02-2008 08:06 AM

Ill be putting the boat in the water this year. So my main goal will be fishing from the boat, but still not abandoning my love for the surf.

Also really learning new boat techniques. And getting a 40# from boat and surf!!

Bronko 01-02-2008 08:47 AM

Fish with a few more people from the board. Hit some spots that I know produce but just didn't have the time to fish last year. Learn the canal a little better. Have fun with my son who is just days away from taking his first steps...............:walk::walk:

Rappin Mikey 01-02-2008 09:45 AM

Break 40# mark on top water from shore.
Learn a few new spots.
Teach my brother how to fish.:bshake:

Rockfish9 01-02-2008 09:46 AM

To see my grand daughter catch her first striper...and my son to get his first "50"

RIJIMMY 01-02-2008 10:03 AM

1. Be safe
2. Have a lot of fun
3. Catch big fish consistently

Flaptail 01-02-2008 10:36 AM

Stay away from the internet and get caught up in the bs, just fish with the few guys I fish with, not write, no talks and get back to reality instead of the fairy land on these boards.:smash::wall:

zimmy 01-02-2008 10:37 AM

considering I will have a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn come March, my goal is to get out once in awhile for at least a few minutes.

you always bash the internet and say you can't stand all the BS, and yet you can't seem to stay away from it. take a hike if you don't like it. No one cares about the glory days on Monomoy anyways..

JohnR 01-02-2008 04:05 PM

Yep, its winter time :rotf2:

My only goal this year will be to fish as much as possible with my son Thomas. He had alot of fun last year with new stuff and saw alot of neat stuff on the water that most kids don't get to experience and hopefully with some of the stuff he's learned he'll have a great time this year. :kewl:

Now back to winter where's the popcorn bowl :rocketem:

keeperreaper 01-02-2008 09:09 PM

:lurk::lurk::lurk: And it is only January!! Let the games begin.

american spirit 01-03-2008 12:00 AM

bass over 40 pounds. push the envelope more this year.

WadingWill 01-03-2008 07:38 AM

1. Not to fall off the rocks I fish on and be safer.
2. Scout some new honey holes this winter
3. Catch a 20# on a plug that I made
4. Get the wife and little sis out for a day of surfcasting.
5. Try to top 30# (my personal biggest)
6. Have a blast the whole time

I hope that 08 brings all you guys tight lines and some big fish!!!! Is it April yet????

Thanks John. I've been down there a few times and scouted it out, ridiculous amounts of open shoreline with almost no access issues (there is actually a beach called 90 mile beach!) all in a country roughly the same size as the U.S. but with only 20 million people. It makes me think about what I've read from Frank Daignault and others about fishing on the cape in the fifties, wide open beaches with no access issues and plenty of casting spots to go around. :btu:

You know I am ready. :grins:

We will also make another Rhody road trip next fall. Same crew!

spinncognito 01-03-2008 11:47 AM

My first goal will to win the Portly Angler Challenge. :rtfm: If that happens, I will have more ability to easily rock-hop and more stamina for staying up all night. Plus, I will have an abundance of new wooden plugs to aide in my quest for a top-water cow. :musc::musc::musc:

wheresmy50 01-03-2008 12:07 PM

My main goal is to do some actual fishing this year - hopefully work will comply.

50+ plus surfcaught would be nice.
