Rick,

I am speechless. Thankfully everything is working out and Jess is doing great.

I hear you Mike my Dad had a stroke almost ten years ago lost his speach for a bit but it took longer for him to be able to move his arm. The first time I saw him lift it after the stroke it all most brought me to my knees knowing that he would be able to cloth and wash himself with little help if any at all. He had a great recovery and is doing well. I will keep you in my prayers ThomT

just read this.
it's been a month, how's she doing?

my wife - also over 30 - has had three incidents in as many months (that I know about) where for about 20 minutes she "gets foggy" cant stand, cant read, cant write, cant remember things, cant talk.

been to the doc and they tell her it's an inner ear infection.
Yeah, right.

---
when she was 19 or so she had chest pains so bad she couldn't breathe.
finally hit so bad I called 911 for an ambulance.
what else is a 17yr old to do?
ER docs told her it was in her mind!!
that it was stress and she should see a psych!

fast forward a few months and its finally diagnosed as gallstones and that those pains were caused by blockage and that it was her system shutting down. if they hadn't cleared on their own that would have been it.
---

Now, after reading your post I am taking no more chances.
even a hint of an issue and she is going straight to the ER.
no questions

Mike,
She's doing very well...still going to speech therapy 3 times a week. She went back to work last Tuesday, so things are returning to "normal."
Jess got a green light from her PCP last week, and has another followup with the Neurology team at Leahey, then she's pretty much good to go.
I hear ya on the ER thing...coming from a family full of doctors, I pretty much downplay serious problems...glad I didn't this time!
Later,
Rick
