I dunno, Paul - at first I thought we had someone starting to channel Habs but after reading it again I think scotty is channeling Clammer :laughs:

Maybe you oughta see if he can switch to one-six

Just kidding scotty - I read you loud and clear. Over.

Crafty Angler 09-12-2008 06:04 AM

Just to update you guys, Joe and I went over to the Blooberry Factory day before yesterday and spoke with Billie about the Awards Ceremony - it's a done deal, he's psyched about it. We're gonna have the whole bar and dining room area with the big-screen TV's. Phew, got another one taken care of. So it's on for the Coddington Brewing Company on Sunday, October 12th at 4:00 PM, cash bar and dine as you like off the menu. Go here for details and directions:

http://www.coddbrew.com/

Hey, it's starting to look like we're on a roll :humpty:

I also spoke with a nutty surfcasting guy you all know - aw, hell, it's Crazy Alberto - and he's working on the posters for the tourney right now incorporating the portrait of John that he's done. He said they should be finished at some point over the weekend. I still can't figure out why they call him Crazy - I dunno, he seems perfectly normal to me :hihi: The posters will be at the weigh stations and one will be posted online here at S-B - I can't wait to see what Alberto has come up with for the tournament.

Then early next week Joe and I are going to go and get the tickets printed so we'll be ready to rock for guys to start signing up for the tournament.

Let the games begin :btu:

Stay tuned for further developments - and don't touch that dial :)

Seems kinda weird that it not be Hab's plugs only.

Sorry, not trying to mess up a good thing.

Maybe a Hab's plug caught category?

Steve, I'm not sure if I'm the only one who will be in the tourney that actually does not own a Habs plug. And I know there aren't any to be given away or purchased at a reasonable price. That being said, I'll be throwing the one Habs, Jr I got.

surfflyfish 09-19-2008 08:36 PM

sounds good.:ss:

Dad 818 09-22-2008 09:07 PM

Any update on when we can PayPal for tickets?

Pt.JudeJoe 10-02-2008 07:28 PM

All 3 shops now have tickets and pins

Ok it's all set. John has the online registration going and all 3 weigh in stations , Quonny Bait and Tackle, Edwards Fishing Tackle, and The Saltwater Edge have the tickets and the Habs pins. Registration will go till 4 pm Friday Oct 10th. at the shops.
Alrighty then! Go out there and have fun :fishin: and know that you're part of a good cause......and while you're out there you might want to take a look up at the sky and remember John, and appreciate that our time is short here and we are very lucky be able to spend some of it fishing and meeting folks like John.

DZ 10-03-2008 07:17 AM

I entered yesterday. Let me tell you that the Habs Pin's alone are worth the entry fee. A must have for collectors of John's plugs and a great rememberence. The proceeds go to a great cause (in this case Hasbro) which is a must for any tourney that I enter. Even if you don't plan on fishing this event please consider entering - $15 well spent.

Will any of the shops change their hours or give short window for weigh in's? I think the Edge opens 11am on Sunday and the tourney ends at 9am.

great idea in theory. but it opens up too much speculation and he said / she said crap about who was using eels, etc. also, lots of people don't have habs plugs. lots of john's friends fish out of boats too.

i'm looking forward to this. got a house to stay at in middletown for the weekend (wife's aunt and uncle just headed to florida today). just hope i can get out of work in time on friday to make it down to the meet and greet.

Goose -

I'll talk to the shops involved as official weigh stations for the tourney - Edward's FISHING Tackle (Hey Kevin :bshake::bshake::bshake: I won't call it 'BAIT & Tackle' anymore, okay), the SWE, Quonny and Quaker Lane to see what the hours are. I do know the hours at the Edge are like 10 to 4 on Sundays, though - Edwards isn't too far away, just down the road from the Coddington Brewing Co. and on Sundays I think Kevin opens at 6:00 AM -

Or you can give them a call to see yourself - I won't get a chance today, I'm outta here for work in an hour or so

Work, the curse of the fishing class...........:wall:

piemma 10-07-2008 06:47 PM

So I registered right when this started and I would like to pickup my pin Friday morning at Quaker Lane. Is that possible?

Hi Paul - I'm assuming you registered online here at S-B - so if you have a receipt of some sort via PayPal, just see Steve McKenna at QL to pick up your Habs pin - if ya have any problems, let me know, I'll give Steve a call on his cell so you can get it -
Thanks again :)

piemma 10-08-2008 03:54 AM

Thanks Crafty. I may try to get down there today.

See you over the weekend.

I am going to print up some sort of certificate for the prize I am donating and will drop it off to Steve.

One 4 hour fishing trip on my boat in the Spring when the menhaden show up in the Bay.

Crafty Angler 10-08-2008 04:47 AM

Thanks again Paul

:kewl::kewl::kewl:

See ya this weekend

bassballer 10-08-2008 06:54 AM

i registered on pay pal last week. Cant seem to find my reciept though. is this going to be an issue?

Crafty Angler 10-08-2008 10:18 AM

Since JohnR is handling the online registration, I'll let him chime in here -

I've been busy with the brick-and-mortar shop stuff so he'll need to let ya know on that.

Probably the best thing to do is PM him - thanks

bassballer 10-08-2008 12:11 PM

Think im all set. I just went and saw steve and grabbed my pin. Just wrote payed online on the back of the ticket. Hope this isnt an issue.

Crafty Angler 10-08-2008 01:35 PM

It's all good, bassballer :kewl:

Stevie is da man - and from the start the whole point of the Habs tourney was gonna be fun, good sportsmanship and a good reason to get together to remember a great guy.

Issues? Hey, we don't have no stinkin' issues :hihi:

Good luck to ya, see ya this weekend :uhuh:

shadow 10-08-2008 01:57 PM

You can pay online here and pick your pin up at one of the 4 weigh stations or just sighnup at one of them.

shadow 10-08-2008 02:50 PM

thank you.

Crafty Angler 10-08-2008 03:07 PM

Shadow, you can do it either way, guess you're a SoCo guy -

You can go directly to Steve or any of the guys at Quaker Lane to register and pick up your pin at the same time.

Quaker Lane was added to the roster of official weigh-stations and registration locations just last week. As hard as it is to believe, The Habs tourney planning only began a month ago as a way to commemorate the first anniversary of John's passing.

Great crew at QL if you are over that way - stop in, say hi and sign up - it's as easy as 1, 2, 3 :hihi:

This is the ultimate in no-muss, no-fuss bass tourneys - and it's gonna be a helluva good time to boot.

See ya this weekend :kewl:

nklinesider 10-09-2008 08:04 AM

im sorry to have to inform you that i wont be able to make it this weekend. just had to call off my wedding and move out and other joyous things like that, so sadly fishing all weekend has to be pushed to the back burner.... what bad timing for chitty chit to happen.

Crafty Angler 10-09-2008 10:21 AM

Hope all goes as well as it can for you, nklinesider - sorry to hear that.

Do what you gotta do first, the fishing will still be around for you when you need it the most.

nklinesider 10-09-2008 01:52 PM

thanks for the support guys this is all going to work out for the better, we had a son a month into our relationship and tried to make things work but it just wasnt meant to be. just trying to keep things civil between the two of us so matthew wont grow up in a bad situation and to stop things from getting worse while we have to be involved with eachother for the next 18 years no matter what

luds 10-09-2008 02:09 PM

GOOD LUCK to all fishing in the Hab's tourney. I wish I had not made a commitment prior to this event. Enjoy some laughs and good times and think of John when you let one rip.

I'm sorry, Norm - I was trying to get down at 5:00
sharp and didn't make it until 6:45 - I was bumming, a lot of folks bugged out early to get to their spots, I missed a lot of people I really wanted to see.

Had a bunch of loose ends to tie up for the weekend and had to get BOTH 704's fixed - one was DOA

Fortunately, the chromed one that was given to me as a gift by Senor Habs was able to be put back in working order - Kevin at Edward's squared me, I usually do my own but there were a coupla issues that had me stumped. It was the reel I wanted to be using anyway for the mojo factor - unfortunately it didn't help me much :rollem:

I took Pt Jude Joe, JohnR and Kevin from Edward's to a UDL they hadn't been to before, it was a bit of a walk in full regalia :hihi:

The payoff was the last 25 yards - it's a little...uh... craggy and ya gotta ford a tidal pool, I stepped in one of the pot holes and almost had my hat float - ran into some gorilla sized razor-lipped bastages and then everyone just finally got tired of feeding eels to bluefish. Man, they was some big buggas :hs:

At least there were no casualties and no man overboard drills - the swell was pretty small.

Anyway, see ya Sunday - it's gonna be a corker and I'll get to see all the people I missed last nite. There's gonna be some pretty nifty surprises - be there or be square :uhuh:

Oh yeah, BTW - this spot I took 'em to - also happens to be an excellent 'tog spot once the water cools a little more - so get yourself ready for some of Uncle Crafty's Drunken Blackfish Chowder :kewl:

See ya soon

piemma 10-11-2008 10:03 AM

Hey Chuck
I made the 2 hour drive from "God's Country". Burrillville can't be any further away from Newport and still be in RI. I really was looking forward to meeting you but I had a great time with Kevin, DZ (remenising about The Block in 05), Peter G and of course Clammer. Met a bunch of guys I talk with on this Board but never have seen face to face.

Can't make Sunday as we have my brother from New Mexico for dinner.

basswipe 10-11-2008 10:32 AM

No blues for just three small bass.Gonna head out and see if maybe I can't scare up something this afternoon before tonight's race. Then do it again in the very early am Sun.

Btw,what time Sunday at the Brew-ha-ha?Jane and I could go for a few Goldens.
