I'll take #^&#^&#^&#^& Simmons any day...us white collar guys have to stick together...in more ways than one!

Redsoxticket 01-23-2009 11:17 PM

Given identical twins that ate the same type of food and equal ambition for surfcasting then I'd say the white collar. During their younger years, I don't know, maybe a toss up. However, as they get older injuries of younger years come back in the form of arthritis, etc and it is more likely the blue collar labor worker will have these aliments that require back or knee surgery because they are a higher risk.

As an aside.
Just look at friends of your age that were jocks (white and blue) and were good in sports throughout and ten years after high school, now they have knee, back, torn muscles, etc.

Definitely!
Ive done a few long nights with the likes of Redlite and Lapinksi, and we're polar opposites physically and mentally, but we always make it till dawn.
They have bounding stamina and positive outlook, and I have physical tolerance and mental determination.
As long as your still standing with a rod in your hand, one last cast..

I think it depends on how much into this thing we do, one is.
How much drive and motivation does one have? To do this thing we do.:wavey:

Tagger 01-24-2009 06:46 AM

sleep apnia can't help .. starting the night out on half a tank .

Raven 01-24-2009 07:27 AM

extremely close

we are extremely close to having a gadget that we can put on our head and get 4 hours of solid rem sleep in 25 minutes...

they will be expensive at first....

Japan's most smartest inventor came up with the idea
several years ago

but he built an elaborate relaxation recliner which will
eventually become a Mobile device instead.

that will be the BALLS.......

:fishin: I say neither. You find and make the time if you truly want to fish. Just my thought.

HESH2 01-24-2009 08:25 AM

i tkink age is the biggest factor here.i'm old blue collar who fishes over 100 days a year, all from surf during daylite.my body is beat up from age and blue collar work.i look at 2 of my white collar sons, who are in pretty good shape and can go hours day or nite fishing hard.they can do the walk and do the talk.

White vs Blue

There are three of us that have been fishing together for awhile, two of us since the early 80's. We are a combination of Blue and White Collar and all on the either side of 55 years old. The true White Collar is a marathoner. We all swim and still do all-nighters. We all feel very fortunate to have such a passion as surfcasting that has kept our attention for so long. We have stayed in shape over the years with the mindset of being able to keep up. I see us doing this for awhile.:jump1: :bounce::shocked:

Joe 01-24-2009 09:26 AM

The runner's body and the elite surfcaster's body are very similar.

Slipknot 01-24-2009 09:43 AM

I really like the variety of answers, very good so far.
And LMAO Bloocrab, I am not surprised by your answer:hs::)

My thought was either one, lasting longer thru the years or on one trip.

Redsoxticket, I can relate. my body is wearing down but I refuse to give in. Back surgery at 37, never been the same - constant maintenence, old hockey injuries even though I was NOT a jock by any means, arthritis creeping up on me. Work has beat my body up. As my friend NIB says, motion is lotion. So I will keep on casting.

I actually think available time and time for sleep or recovery has more to do with who lasts longer, also the drive and ability to will yourself to stay at it. I have done my share of all-nighters and it gets old as I get older and as my mind gets tired the hunting for the fish is less effective so not worth it unless well rested, I can't do caffine or rely on that.

I have found that coffee, potato chips and a fattie work wonders for an all nighter.

NIB 01-24-2009 10:14 AM

You guys make it seem like Yard work..I'm close to 30 years a tile man.At close to 50 I'm starting to feel the pains of a lifetime of schlepping. There's no sense in complaining everyone has problems.I do think I might have been better off with a profession that did not wear on my body like mine does. But you know they say the grass is always greener. While I hardly have the athlete's body I once did I have no problem fishing thru the night. It's not about endurance or perseverance. It's something I enjoy doing..It takes a lot for me to leave.I can go home and sleep easy on good nights it's the tough nights that keep me up till dawn every time.
I can not stand not catching IMO there is no reason for it.They are biting somewhere and I have to find em.Some call it madness I call it LOVE..
Thats why I prefer to fish alone.I don't want my time on the water to be dictated by someone else. Most times when the fishing is tough I am the last one standing.I have a few good fish under my belt that I have taken during this time to remind why I stay..

Plus you hang that carrot of PITS in front of the NIB and he's a mule like no other..

rphud 01-24-2009 10:42 AM

Whomever can afford long term HGH treatments, along with the occasional 'roid treatments for injuries recovery. Better living through chemistry. Science can make the ultimate surfcaster.

LOL. Once you hit 50 you quit worrying about how you feel and start worrying about what you got left for fishing time ......... not that you can remember once you figure it out.

HESH2 01-26-2009 08:20 AM

after reading all the posts, different jobs, age, body types etc.what it really comes down too is everbodys passion to go fishing.our passion is what drives us all.

Raven 01-26-2009 09:39 AM
