isn't it alot like taking candy from a baby?
not meaning to impune, i just never got the whole

"let's go bang sum schoolies as a Spring Fling" genre.
to each his own and that is some sweet tin, Mike!

unless, of course, it is a way to introduce them to
Senior Gamakatsu ~~as a training method of sum sorts?
ala, "this is what it's like above the surf, and that didn't hurt a bit, did it?!"

Ya see bud...the bottom line is..it's all about having fun,,,I've caught many 20's, 30's ,40's may have gotten a few 50's for all I know...released quite a few large that I didn't weigh. I've gotten them from the rocks and beach in the middle of the night, on a jig in the canal, and in bright sunlight on the boat...I've caught on plugs, plastic, rubber, eels, bunker, bare hook, no hook(actually that was Clammer:hee:) I enjoy to fish...period....You gear down and even a dink will give you a run for your money....Enjoy what you have...Bud. Life is short.....

Okay,,,,,,,,,,,,but in yer "Striperin': The Early Years" autobiography
would there be any stories of tourney participations and trophy kills??
:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

you see, this is only my 4th Migration and i've yet to Land a Trophy.
i guess you could say that i'm still knee deep into the Hungry Stage.
and for me, the Tournaments are a way to "cash" in on the 3-5 fish
i would kill anywho, per year. last year i only killed ONE striper for ALL tournies entered.

i will say this, though, from your posts ~and the opinions of others, Eben~ i will not kill a fish in the 30#~40# range, ie barring any ill placed hooks. while the science is always late in providing data for what our EYES are telling us, inlieu of the statistics i will do my best to release ALL but 3 belly-fillers (32"-36") and keep only the 40#'ers and above that could make a difference in any of the tournaments i will enter. hey somebuddy's gottsta WIN the schwaaag?!

i do AGREE with how GOOD it feels to release a big Striper
however,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe next year, C&R exclusively???

Got Stripers 03-23-2009 11:18 AM

Fun is in the eye of the beholder and for me it's about keeping active, keeping my rod bent and getting fresh air. I'd say not all winter outings are for schoolies, I catch 10-20 lb fish every winter, check out the pics on http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ad.php?t=45171 took 3 that size almost into December. My largest winter striper is 42 lbs, put those on a 6-1/2 foot freshwater bass jig and pig spinner and I do believe we are talking fun.
