Prayers

I know I've got more than my share of prayers sent my way with my little guy still in the NICU so here is some from my family to yours.

fishpoopoo 11-12-2009 10:10 AM

Mike,

Thoughts and prayers headed your way. I hope you and your wife get well soon!

Swimmer 11-12-2009 03:25 PM

Talk about being put through the ringer, all of you. I hope a full and complete recovery for your wife Mike.

Geez I just read the post completely. I can't imagine how uncomfortable your wife must have been until the infection was brought under control. I hope you both are feeling much better, and you are able to enjoy the holidays.

Joe 11-12-2009 03:53 PM

Do what you gotta do, just make sure that Striper Island DVD is ready for the holidays.

Fish_Eye 11-12-2009 08:00 PM

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, suggestions and kind words. Donna is still facing a tough uphill battle with antibiotics that work, some that don't, side effects, collapsed veins, intense pain and a husband that can't set foot in the hospital for a couple more days.

Joe - "Just make sure that Striper Island DVD is ready for the holidays."
I usually really appreciate your sense of humor, but you lost me on this comment. All I want for Christmas is my wife back at home and healthy. Yes, I've lost 10 full days of production and it's going to require back to back 18 hour work days to meet that objective, but if it comes out on 12-27 so be it!

Pt.JudeJoe 11-12-2009 08:51 PM

Mike -my prayers and best wishes to Donna and you and the others. You have had hurdles in the past and I'm sure you'll all clear this one as well!

justplugit 11-12-2009 09:37 PM

Mike my wife has been bed ridden for two weeks with the flu, I would say that is a cakewalk compared to what your wife is going thru. Here's for a full and speedy recovery!:uhuh:

Thanks again EVERYONE!

I was able to visit Donna at the hospital yesterday, not that I haven't been in constant phone contact with her, neurology, infection control, opthamology, pain management, ENT, the nursing staff and her PCP. She had suffered a few serious setbacks including drug reactions, mega-migraines and finally what appears to be the flu. Despite all these adversities she has manged to pull through and I actually saw a smile on her face for the first time in a long time last night. She got her first night of quality sleep last night and we hope to get her home by mid-week.

I could write a book about this ordeal, but I'll leave that kind of work to Stephen King...I can't wait to start breathing more life into "Striper Islands" and my seminar series videos...I have a super talented artist working on the jacket cover and we expect to make it into the most awesome striper t-shirts you've ever seen. As soon as I have the finished artwork I'll post a low resolution copy.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

We're happy to report that Donna was released from the hospital yesterday and will be recovering at home for the next couple of weeks. She wanted me to tell everyone how much she appreciated your thoughts and prayers. It was a traumatic ordeal but fortunately she's kept her eyesight, her life, and her positive attitude. One more minor eye surgery (I hate to even use those words ever again) to reattach a surgically severed tendon and she'll be back to near 100%.

Yesterday was such a joyous day for us and I would have shared our sentiments sooner, but when I logged on and saw the post about Steve I just couldn't believe it. My heart goes out to his whole family -- we've lost a colorful member of our tight little community here at S-B...RIP.

Sea Dangles 11-18-2009 07:19 AM

Great news Mike,Good Luck for a speedy recovery!!

Crafty Angler 11-18-2009 09:14 AM

Glad to hear Donna is home and on the mend, Mike - I know what it feels like, best wishes for her continuing recovery!

It was a year ago next week that I went thru a health crisis with my bride that scared the Jehovah out of me - I don't care what anyone says, there are no atheists in an emergency room

Real anxious to see the new t-shirt - however, what's the chance of a tautog tee - ya know, maybe not a glamor girl like the striped bass but certainly worthy of respect

I know I'd be proud to be wear a likeness of one of those Reubenesque beauties, big lips, buck teeth and all...:)
