I've had a good start to the year so far fishing with new "friends" and some old: Niko, Fish4striper, Bill and Marty (not S-B.com members but I heard one is lurking), O.D.Mike, Freebie, Derek1 (aka lostncentralma), JohnnyD, and thepoint. Most have been on my boat but others have been part of the trip.

Can't persuade slipnot to go out (land lover he is) but he has sampled the catch (twice).

Stay tuned for future trip offers......

That is a great idea to take somone fishing. Like yourself I've seen many of my fishing pass to the other side. I am definitely going to take someone out this year.

Canal

if any ones interested id love to get some pointers for the canal.

i know most of it is coveted info, im not looking for pole #s or super duper hot spots, just some basic stuff, tides, current flow, tips on bucktailling. im not a huge bucktail guy, but starting to throw them more.

ive been 3 times this year and caught only the last time, but caught some sweet fish.

PM me if you want. really any info would help, ive already read the canal how to numerous times and picked up alot of great info there.

johnny ducketts 05-22-2010 05:49 AM

I also would like to fish with some new guys this year. Mind you I'm not a sharpie by any strech of the imagination, but it would be nice to fish the outer cape , I still haven't done that yet. Any one interested?

Anyone want to go for a boat ride Thursday? I'm trying hard to hold my calendar open for a day leaving out of Plymouth.

Got 1, looking for 1 more.

Your Welcome Kevin...good consversation and we even caught a few fish...BTW.. I finished out the tide... you didnt miss much..

Here's a pic of one the "boat newbies" fish... note the deep gashes on the back... not uncommon for flats fish that get run over by unsuspecting boaters traveling at high speeds..

The Dad Fisherman 06-24-2010 11:23 AM

It was cool sitting out there listening to the ballgame and wetting a line....peaceful

only one bad thing about last night....I just spent my lunch hour on Craigslist looking at boats :hee:

Slipknot 06-24-2010 12:09 PM

You look like the type of guy who would love a 23' Key West cc with a 225 Yami 4 stroke in great shape and set up for fishing.

The Dad Fisherman 06-25-2010 06:35 AM

I'm thinking more along the lines of a 14-16 foot aliminum v-hull w/ maybe a 20hp myself.....they can be had on Craigslist for under $2000

PRBuzz 06-25-2010 07:10 AM

Took 2 strangers fishing in the last week: Notaro and Eelskimmer. Headed to Quick's Hole area with Notaro and the tuna grounds off P'town with Eelskimmer.

Both survived (barely) and each enjoyed the trip. We boated several black sea bass, schoolie blues, and numerous scup with Notaro (when we wasn't asleep). Too bad we couldn't get John the targeted tuna but he did manage to land the biggest of the 2 keeper stripers we boated.

We're actually looking to downsize, too. The 23 is a great boat but for the amount of time it gets used, it's not worth having it. We'd like a 17 to 19 foot cc that's easy for 1 person to trailer but can fish 2 to 3 people comfortably.

Tuna fishing with PRBUZZ....

...and faithful companion O.D. Mike (Tonto)
is an experience not to be forgotten. They
fish very well together and while we did not
catch any BFT we did see some chasing
bait last Thursday. I was a guest and treated
royally by both. I will add that they have
only one weakness--food. Their grub bucket
consisted of bottled water and energy bars.
Needless to say the Ham and Cheese sandwiches
I brought may have contributed to the treatment
I received. Many thanks guys. Great day and
great company.

Taking this opportunity to re-introduce myself back to the Boston area. Finally moving back after 3years in CT enjoying the Sound ;) Meet and fished with many great people in CT, some met online and others as a member of CT Surfcasting Association. Would like to do the same here.

Live in Brookline, but gave up fishing the "Local AREA" long ago, so I'm usually traveling (both North and South Shores). In laws live in Falmouth so most w/e I'm there.

My plan was to make the next meeting in 2 weeks. Will I get shunned if I wear my CSA hat? ;)

Nope...but be aware the meeting is at the Airport and then we are going to fish for a few...we don't start back up w/ the speakers until next month.

fishing with PRBuzz

So,
I guess that Buzz and I are not strangers anymore... We went out fishing and found fluke, scup and black sea bass. The fish were cooperating so we didn't have to use our back up plans. Speaking from my experience fishing with Buzz these are tips that may help your day if you except his fishing offer.

If you want to bring food for everyone - Frito's – ham sandwiches – bottled water – dark micro brews – nothing spicy -

Gaffing and netting skills are a plus. My gaffing skills need work.

Knowing how to fillet fish, but not necessary.

If you get sea sick let him know up front, I was feeling pretty awful in 4-6' swells while rigging macs in the back of the boat.

Be ready to fish hard...

Team work is a must!

Prepare to catch fish and have FUN!!!

Hope this helps,
Mike
