Here on the Blackstone it's now over the banks and coming into the parking lot of the complex. One more foot and it will be coming into the entrances and down into the basement like it did a few years ago.

When it recedes the trees are full of plastic shopping bags that are there for a season or two. Doesn't look nice.

Slipknot 03-30-2010 11:41 AM

I am gonna build an ark

I had to build a levee to keep water from getting to my fishing room, it held so far but it's about to go over the top :wall:

no pumps available anywhere:smash::fury::wall:
I should have seen this coming

Saltheart 03-30-2010 11:49 AM

Constant hard rain here. No let up at all , just keeps pouring down hard and constant.

My cellar is OK unless I lose power , then I'm screwed. Pump just keeps running day and night.

striperman36 03-30-2010 11:59 AM

the manhole covers down the hill from Coddington Brewery are elevated by the water pressure underneath. spraying up about a foot through the vent holes.

ProfessorM 03-30-2010 12:03 PM

septic system is completely flooded and rendered useless right now. Ground is like a sponge. Start peeing outside, I'm sure my daughter and wife will luv that. I called and they told me I was 300th call today, I figured that. Cellar is wet but am able to keep up with it every 15 minutes. I actually think it is raining harder. WTF.

The year that the Kenmore Station got flooded, I was living in Arlington on Mass Ave. There was a stretch of Mass Ave, just after the high school, that was bordered by hills coming down from Rte 2.

We had about 3-4 feet of water in our basement, and a foot of water on Mass Ave, with the manhole covers spraying water like a water fountain.
The only good thing was that my roommate and I had nothing of value in the basement.

As for the snow equivilent, there would be more structural damage from snow, with trees and roofs falling down. That doesn't diminish the comparative cost that the water damage will create.
You'd be screwed either way.

Slowing down now ,,, hope thats it .. Now the days of drying out and mold patrol again .. :smash:

We live on the north side of the Sakonnet river bridge in Tiverton, it's all ledge, nobody has had a decent leech for the past two months...

You should see our backyard :yak5:

A few weeks ago I had ours pumped as it was overflowing, had been a few years so it was time anyway. The water was a steady flow from the leech field back to the main chamber when it was emptied.

On the bright side, this will be a boost to the slumping remodeling/construction industry !

Warwick Sewer Plant closed till further notice; West Warwick Wastewater Facility under water-not functioning...Cranston Facility still is running (according to Mayor....but Pawtuxet is still rising)....does not bode well for the Upper Bay. The clock is definately ticking on this disaster.....guys will be bullraking off of Bonnet Shores....

yeah i was due for a pumpin. She told me that the field will probably flow back into the tank and cost me more to pump. The water table is so friggin high right now water has no where to go and I live in a town that is a swap basically. The fun of home ownership.

Slipknot 03-30-2010 08:03 PM

This is from about 2pm. That's the Blackstone in the back. The water in the parking lot is not a puddle, it's the river. Just checked.. right now it's right up to curb at the sidewalk on the right. Just a few more inches, and it's coming through the doors.

Tagger 03-30-2010 11:57 PM

Water hasn't come in for a few hrs. now ... Exausted .. Good night Irene .... :sleeps:

piemma 03-31-2010 03:16 AM

Went for 16 hours straignt yesterday. Collapsed about 10 PM. Back at it at 1:30 AM.

Water is still coming it but has slowed considerably. Everything is wet in my basement. Don't know if homeowners insurance covers me but I have 2 new couches, a new queen size bed with matress and box spring all soaked. Tip of the iceberg as my wife is an absolute pack rat.

Only part of the basement that stayed dry was the man cave :) :) :)

2am this morning, one small pump was not keeping up. rebuilt an old one with a bad switch and put it into service. it turned the tide. had just replace the hot water heater monday. looks like it is going to make it. crap (used to be stuff) floating all around in 6-8" of water.

fishbones 03-31-2010 09:12 AM

I have an extra 3/4 hp sump pump if any one needs to borrow it. I replaced it a few years ago and forgot that I still had it. It's old, but works fine. If anyone wants to borrow it and can pick it up in Easton, let me know.
