verse and chapter PLEASE...huh??

had someone, who is now long gone, :D that was shooting chipmunks and squirrels outside (that was his story, and he was sticking to it)
on his deck and wandering the property line. a "gentlemen" who because of his record could not get an FID, doing this mind you... pellets whistling over my head thru the leaves.. a visit to the local Defective's office, and was told that nothing illegal was taking place.. he is shooting squirrels on his property, with an air rifle that can be bought at any walmart, not an issue.. if you have a verse and chapter on that, I would love to see it, with the source, so I can inform said Lt. Defective...

anyways, pellet gun, (22's even better IF you can) rat traps, and D-con...

or invite the coyotes back... they knew how to keep the red devils in check.

hav a hart traps??? then you got to let them go... where are you going to repopulate them, and WHO wants them?

For Sale: Chipmunk Tails

$5 each

Swimmer 06-28-2010 01:05 PM

rat traps and chipmunks

They usually fall prey to peanut butter and bird seed mixed together and place on a set rat trap. Got about ten red squirrels a couple of years ago using that method plus a couple of munks.

Raven 06-28-2010 01:34 PM

same bait

i use the hav-a-heart...and it takes less than twenty minutes if they're active...

i just relocated one to the city forest since i had an errand there...
he was chewing the crap out of my jacuzzi insulation on the inside
so he had to go....

he'd be lookin at me from the bird feeder with STUFFED cheeks goin "WHAT?"

not any more

UserRemoved1 06-28-2010 02:55 PM

I'M GOING ALL OUT THERMONUCLEAR SHORTLY

Trying to figure out how to remotely detonate the burrows. I'm going to fill them with propane

Try something a little less volatile for starters (please): put a water hose in the tunnels and drown/force them to new cover! Tactic worked when I was a youngster trying to get rid of a rat colony. You can even stand at the "other" entrances/exits with a shovel and smash the basterds as they come out for some fun.

UserRemoved1 06-28-2010 04:01 PM

PR BUZZ i've used so much freakin water it's ridiculous. They run out of the holes after about 30 seconds and then they're back the next day. This damage is fresh overnight the thing literally moved enough material to make a burrow 5' under the pool. The liner has already sagged into the burrow. Next is 18,000 gallons of water going byebye

I am starting to think that just running a torch line into the burrow for a few minutes even without detonating would be enough to gas the things dead? I couldn't imagine even a chipmunk could stay alive having to breath propane for a few minutes.:hang::wid::behead::rumble::rumble::banano:

I've got some leftover 3/4 stone I'm going to put a berm around the outside of the pool more than the stone that's there already after dinner.

Raven 06-28-2010 04:02 PM

got 2 today

even if you get those two with any method you use...

the replacements will be moving in as fast as you eliminate
them so you better resign yourself to that fact

and stop.....and listen to the master chipmunk catcher of the land

hahahahahaha

JohnnyD 06-28-2010 04:12 PM

Get a cat... or three. Visited my girlfriend's parents last weekend, the cat catches and kills one/day sometimes 2-3 on a good day. The rabbits don't bother her garden either.

Raven 06-28-2010 04:15 PM

or

ya know what else they cannot resist....?

is a ten foot length of 3 inch pipe ....

you cap one end and put in a 1/2 inch hole for light....

you throw sun black sunflower seed down the closed end
by tipping it upside down so they can smell it....

then have just a few sunflower seeds 6 inches from the opening
so they get used to getting a free meal....in there

you make a quick disturbance and they'll scoot in there
to make a hasty retreat... for safety... then ya pull the string
on the can lid thats screwed to the open edge with one screw
and they are trapped... bingo

UserRemoved1 06-28-2010 04:32 PM

We did this at Paul Smith's in 1976 as part of a grad study. It works!!

Cats aren't my favorite either. But boy do they do a good job at keeping the pests away.

STAR the Cattle dog has the job of chasing away all squirrels, cats,
foxes, coyotes, bears, and bobcats....

your laughin Now ...i can hear ya from here...
yes we have bears here on occasion around the wachuset res

in fact, the neighbors across the street have 3 cows and the bear
came around to try and eat one of them last year....

so the cows got mad, treed the bear and would not let him down
and guarded the tree until the wardens took care of the situation.

usually , i drop the whole trap into a barrel full of water........

occasionally if i am going on an errand i make them a home depot chipmunk , or a stop and shop chipmunk- lol

as far as the legality of shooting them....it's some nosy neighbor that gets all pissed off about it....thats the problem and then she is for ever your enemy and watches everything you do and will report you at the drop of a hat.

Raven 06-28-2010 07:28 PM

then again

you could probably get good money for them in provincetown :grins:

OH GOOD

i know exactly where to release my MUNKS now :rotf2:

Raven 06-29-2010 05:54 AM

when i was growing up

i was even more enthusiastic about watchin the birds...chasin off squirrels that robbed the feeders

and my Dad says to me.... after noticing all the maple trees looked like friggan HELL ..... in the late spring and summer...

i wonder whats wrong with them Craig?

i said: I know exactly why ! they have so few leaves DAD.
the squirrels are chewing the buds off the trees because they are SWEET as maple sugar.

he then bought me the hav a hart trap and i'd set it and sit there all day
watching it.... for hours on end.... perfecting my squirrel catchin ability to an ART form...

the reason you need the smallest one for the chippy's is because they don't weigh as much and sometimes they won't trip the bait lever on the big one.

the squirrels i relocated to the Charles river area after spray painting the tip of their tail silver ....so if they came back i'd know it.

soon, i was shooting silver tipped squirrels :) with the trusty ole Sheridan pellet gun with the weaver scope before school

UserRemoved1 06-29-2010 04:53 PM

DOUBLE SCORE TODAY

mouse in one and another little digger in the other bucket. :kewl:

All that stone last night didn't do #^&#^&#^&#^&. They dug right through it back under the pool again. I think they must be able to smell something where the burrow is. No way he could have picked exactly the same place to redig. I'm thinking a little bleach sprinkled around there ought to fix his ass tonite. What a friggin mess this thing is making.

Raven 06-29-2010 05:33 PM

Salty....

if they have babies in a burrow nothing but nothing will keep them out

flushing with water will not work

because they dig a by pass trench in case of torrential downpours

cheferson 06-29-2010 06:41 PM

Not sure about chipmunks , but i got the ground hog to move on. I had tried filling hole , with dirt/rocks, sticks etc. The bastard would dig it out in a day. So last fish i caught , i jammed all the guts/rack down in the bastards hole, and covered it with dirt. It's been about 3 weeks and no hog.

Raven 06-29-2010 06:43 PM

good job..... Cheferson

smell ! is what they relate too

Raven 06-29-2010 06:51 PM

i was getting SKUNKED

almost daily.... not for a lack of catching fish ok

this friggan skunk had a den right behind my house
when i lived in Northborough...

every damn night he/she would spray...

and instantly my house got fumigated with skunk smell

then i read that skunks have a den within 100 feet of
where they spray often.... aha i said...

so i began searching like a forensics expert
and could not believe how close the den was
to my back porch...just 60 feet away

so i grab the hose one morning...turned it on
shoved it in the hole....
and sat down outside to have my coffee like normal

ten minutes or so goes by....

suddenly i noticed this shimmering light as the morning sun
shown through white baby skunk fur that was wet with water...

and the whole family came parading out of there
never to return..... to my ultimate satisfaction
