it would be a BLAST to share my home rocks with ya, if you don't already have a full game plan, gents.

shore hope the big gurls have showed up by then, and High is a little early for THAT night,,,,,,,,but it is always worth a shot, THERE.

wet suiting spot with islands within wadeable/swimable distances, and a promentory that could easily support between 6-8 anglers in waders. can get sketchy if there's a big blow, we'll sea what the surf has to offer.

besides the fishin', it'd be good to sea ya again, Chuck. are ya bringin' CJ and longshot?? the food was very good last year and the comraderie, too! combine that with the casting accuracy contest and we got us a real, LIVE, shindig ~waiting to happen.

who's bringing the BOOM box??

If I am able to make it I will bring C.J. and I think I can get stewie to show up!

Don't forget to bring your kayak, if you have one. Parker River and Joppa Flats are local gems to fish from a yak.
Last time I was at Surfland, there was also activity for flounder fishing in the afternoon.
Though others know it better, I would hope all attendees do a little research about Plum Island, parking, overnight fees, etc. I'm hoping Tattoobob and PlumCrazy chime in and can make it!

We have been kicking ass on the beachfront on outgoing tides. (at night). Let me see what is going on. We WILL be there, just don't know about the tourney.

redlite 07-27-2010 07:58 AM

Its lookin like I should be there. I reminded the wife again last nite that I got a tourney the 8th, she gave little more than the eye rollin good grief, so Should be good to go. Fired up to finally experience fishin up there and seein every one.
Hopefully we have a good turn out..........And don't have to go to "Plan B"......

Rockport24 07-28-2010 10:34 AM

I prob won't fish but I may be able to sneak away to shoot the chit with you guys for a little bit.

JohnR 07-29-2010 06:44 AM

Any cheap places to stay in the area? Might get something for a few hours (or sleep in the truck, again). Problem with the energy drinks is that after fishing all night, driving on powershot to stay awake, can't sleep when I get home :buds:

Oh - anyone bring a grille?

Rockfish9 07-29-2010 07:12 AM

Stripers inn in Salisbury might be reasonable... I've had guy's that came from afar to fish with me stay there, and alot of the people that use the clipper fleet party boats stay there as well ( the marina is right behind the inn) you can then grab breakfast at the fish tale diner by simply walking across the parking lot..

I've got two "tail gate" grills I can bring...

ThrowingTimber 07-29-2010 11:12 AM

Ditto on a cheap place to crash. fly spin or conventional? Wetsuit?

angler229 07-29-2010 08:29 PM

Heck everyone seems to be going I might even try to hitch a ride.

redlite 08-03-2010 09:21 AM

Since BassDawg Charters is unavailable, who's takin me fishin'?

I have never been up there. Hopefully I can figure out how to get where we're meetin' up usin' my map book................

JohnR 08-03-2010 09:39 AM

Directions :

plum island turnpike newburyport ma - Google Maps

nightfighter 08-03-2010 02:55 PM

Everyone should have an idea, or preference of where they would like to fish, so we can have locals guide or give directions/input. The options are varied and not all that close to one another. Plum Island is a great take, and you are right there. There is Gloucester and Cape Ann, Maine to the north, and then closer to Boston, Nahant, Marblehead, and Manchester. Marblehead is a 45 minute ride from Plum Island, as a reference of distances. I would be happy to show you my neck of the woods, just want to get a feel of numbers so we can spread some locals with out of towners... I hope Luds and others can help me out here....If local guys could chime in with where they would be willing to take some folks, that would be helpful.

Last year we fished Plum Island out front on the then connected sand bar, and then drove a group down to Marblehead, where we got blown out by high surf conditions. JohnR has been up here a few times, so I would value his input as an out of towner who has been here, as there are some "challenging" spots we like to access.....

And Bob Huddy already has the guest bedroom, and will be traveling with me.

spinncognito 08-03-2010 05:43 PM

I can lead a few folks to some fishy spots in my neighborhood. After the feast, a 30 minute drive to Rockport and then the back shore of Glosta (Aptly named Bass Rocks) and perhaps the boulder fields of Magnolia.

I am no professional guide (or fisherman for that manner) but the fishing has been improving in the last few days and the weather forecast/tides are favorable so there will be fish to be had. Be forewarned if you are a bluefish hater (or lover?) as they have been abundant and absolutely crushing the plethora of spike macs that are still surrounding Cape Ann.

:soon:

DeadlyRichard 08-03-2010 10:09 PM

Hey, I can't make it. However, since we've never met, you won't exactly miss me! I was hoping to show up, being a new member I was looking forward to meeting you guys. I still may be able to stop by @3 for the bbq, but I have to keep going up to Maine by 5 or so. Hopefully, when there is a get-together closer to my area(RI) I can attend! have fun and tie one on for Ol' Deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&!!!

Rockfish9 08-04-2010 06:51 AM

As far as I know, Slip and the Professer are fishing with me...

So far this week , the last hour of the incoming tide has been much better than the top and the out going ( late stage)in the river, lots of small bluefish making life miserable if you want bass...still a mix of medium bass to be had, lots of fussy fish at the top...with an occasional bruiser...

I havent been out on the beach since last thursday, hoping to give it a try tonight (if the wind drops off after sunset)so maybe I can give a little insight on what to expect there...

Low tide is at 5:59 Sunday morning... running off to a -0.2... the mouth/jetty will be the place to be... small and medium spooks will do big buisness if things are as they should be..I'll explain a litte more at the get together..

Slipknot 08-04-2010 07:10 AM

i'm in Joe, thanks
I'll be there

nightfighter 08-04-2010 09:50 AM

Just a thought

If anyone headed north would like to at least be shown some local areas in Marblehead, I could do that if you were to be here by noon on Saturday. That would give us enough time to scout some areas in daylight and then get to PI by 3pm. Just let me know.

Thanks for the offer. I am down for that. I finally just looked at the north shore on a map and Rockport/ Gloucester area looks even better as it sticks way out in the middle of the ocean. I fished Plum Island/ mouth of Merrimack about 10 yrs ago with small fish to show for it. Was way out on a sand bar and the fog rolled in. I was stumbling around with my waders in my hand for hours tryin to find my way back in. Was heart pumpin for sure as I wasn't familiar with the area.:smash:

I am pumped to come up there and fish.
Looking forward to this weekend.
Weather looks good with SW around 11 wind which I would imagine is good for up there. Chance of thunder boomers hopefully won't ruin the night. High tide around 9:30pm.

Bring it on.

Let's be in touch to set somethin up.

tattoobob 08-04-2010 04:37 PM

I am still up in the air about coming, I have to work on Sunday so pulling an all nighter is out for me

EricW 08-04-2010 07:41 PM

I'd love to be there, but I have a birthday party that day. Maybe next year. Sounds like a good time.

JackK 08-04-2010 07:41 PM

The best part about fishing Rockport is watching the BFT crash about 200 yds out... Bring your 130's :biglaugh:

redlite 08-05-2010 01:57 PM

Well, from lookin at the who bringin what, it sadly looks like not that many folks are plannin on makin it.........

It is understandable that people have other things in life, not a problem,

To all you lukers out there, don't be bashful. Come out and meet folks. I don't even know that many, and I am lookin forward to finally meetin some that are goin. And it is a LONG haul from one end of the state to the other for me.

So come on out ya'll and have some fun. Besides the Too Cold To Fish Nite, these legs are some of the best BS sessions available where you get to meet people, hear other's lies, and put a face to a name. Its how I met some of my best life long friends was at one of these things.

So come on out.

topwater popper 08-05-2010 04:00 PM

I plan on fishing PI that night anyway, but I won't be able to get there at 3pm. How long do you guys plan on being at the parking lot for ?

nightfighter 08-05-2010 04:14 PM

We're there til 5 or 6. Some will head out to fish other areas, some will be on PI. I think we'll have a good turnout. Weather looks real good!

topwater popper 08-05-2010 04:22 PM

I'll do my best to swing by!

Also have open land by the end of the runway, just over a quarter mile away....

Pete F. 08-06-2010 01:07 PM

I'll be there.

ProfessorM 08-06-2010 04:39 PM

Like Mike said come on out you will have a good time and meet some really great people.

tattoobob 08-06-2010 04:47 PM

Dress warm because the weather dude just said it was going to be 45-55 degrees tomorrow night.
