I have no problem mentioning the canal......but you have to name a spot??

I thought you went to the Vineyard??

I managed to miss every daytime blitz that took place this year and I know there were dozens of them... its almost embarassing.

I had the "shoulda been here yesterday" going pretty much all season at the canal.

Granted all these daytime blitzes are simply googan fests featuring canal bikes, van staals, cell phones, and pencil poppers, :hee: but I'd like to cash in on some fish just once, even if an often celebrated highliner like me has to rub elbows with the lowly daytime crowd...:banano:

YOUR NOT ALONE, I showed up one morning, walked down the rocks

There's a report that a 22 foot boston whaler has grounded on the backs of 100's of massive stripers and can't move. The captain and his fishing buddy are catching them as fast as possible and the boat is slowly lowering back into the water. Could take days.

TeleCAM - Cape Cod Canal

zimmy 10-20-2010 02:12 PM

The TeleCAM- Cape Cod Canal is a magic mirror, which, according to Albus Dumbledore, shows the "deepest and most desperate desire of our hearts."

"Men have wasted away before it, not knowing if what they have seen is real, or even possible."
—Albus Dumbledore explaining the danger of the mirror to Harry Potter[src]

Story of my fishing life this year.

I have had to go away on 5 business trips between May and Today. During or immediately before every single trip, the canal went on fire and stayed on fire until the day I got home and rushed to the canal.

My favorite situation like this was when I went to Seattle a couple months ago. The canal was going nuts with all the macks in there. Was on a redeye flight home and soon as I landed received a picture of a 30# bass caught while I was in the air. Got dropped off at home, changed and headed to the canal... it was completely dead and stayed that way until my next business trip when it lit up again and I couldn't get there.

So as a heads up, tell everyone when your next business trip is going to be so they can get ready and make plans for the next BIG BLITZ!:rotf2:

Plan buisiness trips around the moon phases.

Don't tempt me Mike. I'm only 2miles away and it's almost break time here at the hell hole

It was FAC at daybreak, Paul. And still pretty dead. I thought that I had a bump when I threw tin on a break, but then realized that the thing probably fell right on the head of a 12" bass :rotf2:

If that was a 45 pounder rolling on bait, my plug wouldn't have landed within 20' of it---but I'm Deadeye #^&#^&#^&#^& when throwing tin on dinks :biglaugh:

That's why I like to stick to jigs at night ;)

tattoobob 10-21-2010 06:23 PM

People fish at that Canal? :fishin:

to be honest the fishing had been so much fun and uncrowded in the afternoon I have not fished any mornings in a week or so, but that changed today from what I saw. Maybe give it a shot tomorrow before the weekend zoo takes over.

JohnnyD we only have enough room on here for 1 Bigfish, I can't catch anything, the year sucks for me, why me why, Larry.
Been in your shoes many times over the years. Stinks when you can't get to where the fish are because of commitments. Larry has no excuse this year he has all the time in the world the fish just hate him.

stripermaineiac 10-24-2010 04:38 PM

Hey I just heard the Canal was hot again. Got so hot they had to move it to downtown Boston as they needed another couple hundred empty parking spots. Happens when you burn a parking lot though LOL.Love the jealousey here sometimes gets funny LOL Ron

BigFish 10-24-2010 04:41 PM

Where is there any jealousy?

stripermaineiac 10-24-2010 05:02 PM

You missed it again.

ProfessorM 10-24-2010 06:59 PM

no nutin today. I felt like I was all by myself today. I rode for miles and saw maybe 2 or 3 guys max. I also did not see any bait and no fish or bird activity.

jredfly 10-24-2010 07:18 PM

Same here - no people, no fish today. Did see a shark go through just about 10 feet off the rocks, my son thought that was very cool. He said it made his day worth while. :uhuh:

BobT 10-26-2010 08:35 AM

There were no fish Fri. or Sat. Did anyone see the boat trolling mid canal area? CG went near him and left and he continued to troll real close to the rocks. Got a nice plug and LOTs of line and almost a rod from him and the guy next to me said he got a nice plug further east of us.

ProfessorM 10-26-2010 09:33 AM

not much going on Sunday or Monday, small fish and really only a handful of guys out now. No real bait in there either compared to the tons that were in there last week. I did find fish on some beaches though. Even ran into Backbeach on one of them. I hit several beaches off cape too on ride home but from what I heard I missed it by a day. For the 8 hours I put in driving and fishing it wasn't real productive but still an absolute beauty of a day and beats sitting home.

That guy would be me. Another trophy for my googan wall, I wish like hell I would have just put it in the tree, and let him try and figure that out.

Since you told me about this, I'm still wondering why you didn't hold the line and strip the reel.
