At least my basement is dry, devoid of any moisture.

So after I chisel out my plowed in driveway, I chisel out my parents and my aunts, what fun all hand done.
Every storm is a 2 chewed aspirin 8 hour lovefest.
Need to find a low maintenance masseuse.

ProfessorM 01-13-2011 11:38 AM

Bears got to be right up there in the brains department, they sleep thru winter. Wish i could.

I don't care

Hey, not for nothing, being semi-retired, most of the pressure is off about having to clear the driveway at 5 a.m. to get out to work. Then not having worry whether the wife gets out and to work safely in friekin Taunton is another load off.

That being said I never did worry much about snow. Can't control it, so I really dont like devoting energy, postive or negative towards that end. Always had to work before clearing up crashes ancd getting people help for one reason or another. Now ust taking care of your own problems during a storm is really cool. Used the generator yesterday for a while so we had lights and could charge up phones only to find no service to be had. Generators are one cool item to own. Have to get it wired to house so I can switch over the burner and a few other things.

leave it to BF'in Negative Nellie to

find something to BEETCH about even when he's NOT fishing~~~

i choose to embrace God's Splendor in all her variations. LOVE the snow, cold is a state of mind and preparedness, and without Old Man Winter,,,,,,Spring, Summer, and Fall would be all messed up! so would our species!! they need wintertime to spawn, fatten-up, and re-ignite the migratory flight. no winter,,,,,,,,,,,,no fall run!!!

and how we gonna have a TFCTFN, if it's not TFC???
how'd you get to be so tall without any backbone, Larry?
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

MAKAI 01-13-2011 02:43 PM

Dawg,
Next big Northeaster that freezes solid come on down and have some fun, I'll WD 40 up the shovels and watch you enjoy yourself from my window seat.
Hot chocolate , aspirins and the de-fib are on me.
Lotta lift and carry, no place to put the snowcrete, it's awesome having the sweat dripping down your back all the way into your boots.
I especially like the lightheadedness and spots in front of my eyes.
Then we'll go to the gym and powerlift for a couple hours, It'll be great.
:kewl:

Sea of Atlas 01-14-2011 01:19 AM

It's not so much the length of winter as it is the girth. :)

Dawg:
if you think it's that much fun how about traveling in it for me? Took me 27 hours straight to get home from the Left Coast. My job SUCKS in the winter as I travel every week. Just can't wait for the week of the 24th when I'll be in frozen Atlanta, Columbus GA and Raleigh.

Raven 01-15-2011 07:16 AM

it's a lovely 6 degree's outside this morning! BRRRRRRRRRRR

my tomatoes turned this weird color and are hard as a rock :rotf2:

BigFish 01-15-2011 08:02 AM

Dawg I got more backbone than you will ever know. I have worked in the winter, the snow, the misery! I used to cut cement with a water spewing hydraulic saw in sub zero temps......I am no stranger to it Dawg. Point is I am 46 and have had my share of it....I have a bad back that makes it quite painful to shovel this #^&#^&#^&#^&! I am quite sure you have spent the majority of your working life safe and cozy and oh so toasty warm looking at the pretty snow from the warm side of a window inside your office cubicle which makes it easy for you to run out into it at the end of the day and make snow angels.

-3 degrees on the frozen tundra of Burrillville RI right now. 2 woods stoves cranked and a toasty 70 in the house but I have to go and get more wood out of the wood pile.

Rob Rockcrawler 01-15-2011 08:50 AM

I have one more stoking of the stove them i gotta get out and make a few trips to the wood shed. Fun times, i turned on the electric last night, first time in a month or so. Its 72 in the house this morning. THe best thing about snow storms is that it insulates the house nicely.

BigFish 01-15-2011 08:53 AM

Paul how is man town coming??:uhuh:

Thanks you proved my point! He doesn't know me and I don't know him so maybe he shouldn't make assumptions.

Raven 01-15-2011 09:25 AM

with the snowblower down.....:wall:
it appears to be a clutch malfunction

i had to just go down there all powered up
and drag the S.O.B. backwards up hill in neutral

(lemme tell ya that wasn't easy)

and load it in the snow blower rescue van
so i can rush it to the hospital :soon:

Mine has a friction plate, I haven't replaced it but it appears to be a relatively painless procedure to change, when I'll need to. Hopefully after I move to a snow free zone

striperman36 01-15-2011 10:01 AM

My sheperd pulled a muscle yesterday, and his hips are really bothering him. Sad, he used to love the snow would snoot surf all day.

BigFish 01-15-2011 10:07 AM

It was 25 in Pensacola last night.

I get a sanity break next week, I get to escort the parents to Naples FL and stay for a few days.

I've been plowing/removing snow since I was 5 years old, helping my dad around his buildings as soon as I was strong enough to do it, now I run the show. Hate the stuff and can't wait to get past it again.

Meteorologically/historically speaking, the week of January 21 is the bottom of winter, then it is back up the ladder, so this upcoming week is my starting point for light at the end of the tunnel. My finish line is the 1st weekend in March when I can turn on the water at my cottage without much fear of freezing. Then it is time to hang the birdfeeders, burn downed wood and scout beach -

Not sayin you should do it. whatever you're comfortable with. I have been get more comfy doing my own stuff these days, so thats my choice unless it's like a internal engine component, then I'll look for help, until I learn how to do that stuff too.

Swimmer 01-15-2011 03:28 PM

A buddy of mine who lives about a mile away and is terribly disabled was yakking about his 19 yr. old sat inside and watched him do all the shoveling during the storm. He just signed for a car for the kid. Thats was kind of bothering him at coffee this morning.

BigFish 01-15-2011 03:32 PM

Disabled and he was out shoveling while his healthy, able bodied son watched from the warm house??? And he just signed for a car for the kid?? Did you recommend to your friend he get his head examined?? Who is gonna wind up shoveling out the kids car???
