When your taking the time to write to the NC regulators you may want to take the time to also write to the Mass regulators. The Mass commercial quota is much larger then NC and the Northeast trawlers and draggers are also killing fish and throwing them overboard. There not culling their just throwing them over because they can't keep any. Then there is that license to steal Mass calls a commercial license that many recreational fisherman use to get around the two fish limit.

Not trying to be a jerk. Just that we need to take a good look at what is happening up here in our own back yard. Sure what is happening down in NC is a disgrace but things up here aren't much better.

I am going to Mayan end of the world party that day . . . . no lie.
Costume party, no expense spared . . . . I know a very wealthy man who believes in that.

Be the best scotch I'll ever have.

This is an email that I got today regarding NC.

I am writing in response to your e-mail regarding your concerns about North Carolina’s striped bass fishery.

On Jan. 21, the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries implemented regulatory changes to address discards of striped bass in the commercial trawl fishery. The division replaced the previous 50-fish-per-day commercial trip limit with a 2,000-pound-per-day trip limit.

To avoid regulatory discards, the new regulations allow commercial trawl fishermen to transfer trip limits to other fishing vessels that hold a striped bass ocean fishing permit for the commercial trawl fishery. This way, all the fish will be landed and count against the commercial quota.

Thank you for your interest in North Carolina’s marine fisheries.

Sincerely,
Patricia Smith
