No, no wars ;) , while I disagree with Rav on this one (and apparently he's pi$$ed at me) I'm not going to war with him unless we're side by side :love: .

How do I process a file?

Not sure what you made the movie with but you can probably process it with Windows Movie Maker for free (or Sony Vegas for a fee) and convert it to a smaller file and then upload it to Youtube (which then converts to FLV). The annual S-B movie is only 40-80MB in size and runs 20 minutes but the original, in HD, would be over 1GB in size and would be counter-productive to upload.

John, I think you pissed Raven off enough that he's no longer visiting the site. If I had Raven's photoshop skills, I'd post a picture of his face on a milk carton.

45 ping
19 down
6.6 up.
Cox Cable cheapest option I belive you can pay more and get faster.
was 10X that when it was Cox@Home about 15 years a go. It was so fast then my friend who worked at Motorola on the original cable modems sent in a suggestion to a news robot software developer to add a 1 second pause between each file download just so we could see what it was downloading. It was just a blur without the 1 second delay. Now you got to watch the timers showing 5 or 6 seconds for the same kind of downloads.

Saltheart 04-06-2011 03:41 PM

Updated to IE9

ping 15 !!!
download 28
upload 7

Big change.

Matt D 04-07-2011 11:45 AM

A new low!

Download = .32 Mbps
Upload = .33 Mbps
Ping = 104ms

Crappy lowest tier business DSL. Have Comcast at home, will post up those speeds tonight.

It does seem that way. Think he tool it more than a little harder than it was meant to come across (there was smileys and all).

Maybe we should send him a please come home kiss :love: ?

(disclaimer: this post was not meant to be anything other than light-hearted to get our Raven back)

Hmm - PShop. Milk Carton.

Maybe after side work, which comes after Scouts, which comes after real work.

Thank you, sir.

As for M$ , their good products AND bad products (often the line between is beyond blurred) have been more or less paying my mortgate for the 11 years I've owned a home. Their ability to do the dumb is consistent and troubling.

Cox is still giving me problems. The Modem needs resetting close to 20 times a week. They came and ran some tests.Blamed the TV for noise in the line and installed a filter. If it was under my name it would be gone and replaced with fios.I pay for the fastest connection cox offers and their support is pretty bad. They keep trying to blame my router when the lights on the modem go out and blink.I unplug the modem for a few minutes and it fires right back up.They think everyone was born yesterday. They should include wired and wireless routers in their package like verizon so they only have themselves to blame for hardware failure.

Extreme 105

With regard to the "branding" I went up to the comcast office here to swap out a couple of remotes and while I was there I asked about my plan (tv/3phonelines/internet) to see if what I had was current and makes sense and asked about getting xfinity for some of the dvr features. She said it is not available on the island yet, that it requires an upgrade to some systems here and and that will not take place until mid-late April. I asked her what it means in terms of added features, and one of the added features she said will be "much higher Internet speeds", among other interactive features and a total redesign of on-demand stuff. I asked when...late April.
According to her it is more than re-branding but if you ask me it looks an incremental upgrade and they are re-packaging it under a new name.

Looks like the new service was announced yesterday: 105Mbs down/10Mbs Up but so far only selected cities. Note the cost!

Comcast, the largest U.S. internet-service provider, introduced a new home-broadband package Thursday, which can download files many times faster than most connections.
Comcast's Xfinity customers in some major cities can now buy the new service, called Extreme 105. The name (which sounds a little like a radio station) comes from its ability to reach speeds of 105 megabits per second.
At that speed, customers can download an album in three seconds or a high-definition movie in five minutes, Comcast said.
Currently, a popular residential internet plan from Comcast transfers data at one-seventh the speed of Extreme 105. It costs $30 a month at first, versus $105 for the Extreme plan, an introductory price that also requires the customer to have a bundle of television and phone service from Comcast.

it's ALL to slow mo ......

leptar 11-06-2011 12:24 PM

Looks like i am stuck with Cox for a while again.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1576964477.png

Cox Premier.

No Fios here yet don't see it coming any time soon either.

I've had Cox come out 4+ times this year for noise issues in the line and it still is not resolved...

Can't argue either.. Techies that came over had their hands tied all pointed to the pole...

I know there is a break in the line.. I have seen this before... as it is worse on windy and rainy days...

I am gaming and doing the on-line HD movies often so i kinda need the speed.

Comcast, new Arris SB6141 modem (own vs. rent now) + X1 Platform: DAMN that's fast. I really don't upload much, except fish pics so don't care about slow upload speed.

Thought I would also test the wifi speed, interesting I have a dual wifi 2.4/5Ghz Netgear wifi and intesting there is a speed differential. Maybe in the setup: I am probably 12-15ft from the 2.4GHz source but <5ft from the 5GHz in which I use a secondary amplifier which receives the 5GHz and rebroadcast in 2.4GHz.

Wifi testing done using a Galaxay 5S. Tested the 5GHz directly, 98Mbps! I am using the 5 when home... ;)

FIOS is not available in Brockton, maybe for years......

Liv2Fish 01-19-2015 10:45 AM

I have the standard comcast (just got a new router) and it's always been pretty good. i hate comcast for many reasons but their ISP has always been good to me.

Ping 32 Down load 85.4 Upload 12.18. Good enough for what I use it for now.

JohnR 01-19-2015 11:26 AM

12ms packet time - you are only a few hops to your destination device - maybe even on same ISP family. Try going to NYC or ATL and see what you get.

25D / 25U with 25ms on FIOS

Liv2Fish 01-19-2015 01:47 PM

To Greenville NC

Ping 32 70.42 down 12.02 up
