3 fresh holes today next to the side door. One out back when I walked in my office. Scared him away no way for a shot there. Did get off two shots into on coming out of the new holes. The first shot he acted funny like I hit him and he went up next to the rock. I reloaded and by the time I was ready again he had perked up and jumped up the steps. I put another shot into him and pretty sure I hit him from 10' away. He hasn't come back.

I think it's going to be a long summer.

UserRemoved1 06-24-2011 02:21 PM

Fresh digs again next to the house today. Both sides. Egads. No wonder why that fisher cat has been hanging around. I'm just giving him free dinner with all the carcasses. Got to spit out that little lead pit though :hee:

UserRemoved1 06-25-2011 03:31 PM

5 at the shop today and a mouse inside on a trap. Found an injured bird today too. He's sleeping in a box on the porch. Chipmunks got into the chickadee birdhouse and ate all the eggs :smash:

UserRemoved1 06-27-2011 04:03 AM

Fresh digs still!

Son comes out yesterday when I was standing behind the truck waiting for him to come out of the burrow. He wants to help so I put him at a corner of the other truck and tell him to stand like a statue and be quiet, if he sees anything move to tell me.

SOB!

Doesn't a chipmunk pop out FOUR feet from the kid. NO WONDER why I have been having a hard time getting these bastids in the driveway. Because while I'm standing there watching the burrow next to the garage the damn things are laughin at me and coming out 5' behind me. WTF :smash:

Raven 06-27-2011 04:10 AM

they have multiple routes and tunnels.....

the fatter garden snakes love them too

Rockfish9 06-27-2011 11:44 AM

I put a one way door on a comercial style eel trap... fill the back with the 1/2 eaten strawberries they leave behind and a hand full of seeds ( in a tuna) can... I've got as many as 5 in one haul...

UserRemoved1 06-27-2011 02:31 PM

Raven 06-29-2011 06:13 AM

I placed an order for a pump-action pellet rifle and 6000 bb's, and you can have it shipped to the nearest store to you for pickup ...for NO SHIPPING FEE!

I placed the order yesterday, and it is being shipped today. They will send an email when it arrives at the store of your choice.

I have WAY TOO many squirrels that have been digging in every potted plant and garden bed every day. To top this off, they have all just weaned their FIRST litter of the season, so we have over a dozen grey tree rats roaming our property at any given moment.

Time to cull the herd!

UserRemoved 06-29-2011 11:33 AM

Be glad it's not two dozen

This is my issue. Walked out the front door this morning and there were no few than 5-6 in my immediate field of view digging in our small potted veggies and tearing into the bird feeders. The damn things are so brazen that they don't run away when I go up to them, they just move slightly out of range.

With the yuppy neighbors, I have to be selective of when I thin them out so I'm only able to pick off 2-3 a week. If it weren't for the neighbors, I'd probably be able to get 4-5 a day for a few days.

UserRemoved1 06-29-2011 12:50 PM

no fresh digs today

I still hear them around the pool but haven't started attacking them yet. Pool is leaking again. Might be a remote detonation of 20,000 gallons. I'm thinking nothing would survive :hee:

Set up a remote video and film it like it was a scene from "Earthquake" (the dam-breaking segment).
Maybe you could rig it so that the "flood waters" would fill their burrows , kind of like the hose-soaking scene from Caddyshack?

UserRemoved1 07-01-2011 01:59 PM

Nice. :smash:

Fresh 8' burrow under the pool liner. Wasn't happy with a single lane the friggin thing had to go double wide. WTF.

That got 1/2 gallon of bleach all around the base of the pool again. That seemed to work pretty good last year.

Fresh burrows all over the backyard. I found a vole burrow now too. He popped out I wasn't that quick a shot.

UserRemoved1 07-01-2011 02:35 PM

good shot :grins:

Few days of quietness and no new holes. Get home today and fresh dig next to the door. Grab the trusty varmint hunters friend and wait less than 10 minutes outside the garage. First one I stunned it...turns ass end to me. I reload quick and run up to the steps...he ain't movin. I hit him from 20' and he was rolling on the top of the rock. No body by the time I got there.

He won't be back :hee:

Raven 07-08-2011 02:15 PM

there's many replacements

FishermanTim 07-11-2011 01:03 PM

Took a few "practice" shots in the back yard this morning (made sure the neighbors couldn't see) and made a couple tree rats take off with a little more than a wounded pride.
If they keep coming back, I'll have to "pump up" my presentation a little more. (10X instead of 3X)

My brother wanted me to take care of a couple of pigeons that had been coming to our yard. I had to explain to him that they aren't a problem because they only came to the yard because of the cheap birdseed and breadcrumbs that get scattered in the yard.

The real problem are the squirrels, because they are destructive in many ways. They will destroy bird feeders, birdhouses, dig up garden beds and plants, chew up lots of veggies BEFORE they are even close to harvestable size, and they leave their little turd pellets all over the place.

Only time will tell whether or not they get to stay or go to "critter heaven"!

striperman36 07-11-2011 05:18 PM

I am going to electro-fence my humming bird feeder when I get home

UserRemoved1 07-11-2011 05:23 PM

Hit another today. That friggin rock is like a munk hotel
