maybe the guys who are generously offering to take people on their boats could just post if they have any room?

I for one don't have a ride, but I am a really good mate and will bring some good grub! :D

Got Stripers 10-05-2011 11:43 AM

Is the 23rd the "official date"? Still in pending my schedule and weather obviously and after a day out with Goose (thanks much
Tony), I actually now have a clue. Not sure how many are going to comfortably fishin from my 20 footer, 2 I'm guessing at best, Tony if you want to come with me this time around let me know.

23rd Prime time, since so many are interested it would be good to have an alternate backup date weather/oct

What's the average depth fished in buzz bay? Curious how much lead I'll need to stay down.

Fished the area on Monday. Did manage some beasts to the boat but one took me to school in a BIG way.

niko 10-15-2011 04:36 PM

extended forcast looks good. i think we could use a few more boats though, dont be shy captains - all you need is an ancor and some crabs. for those who know the area we are fishing is fairhaven the best place to launch from?

Goose 10-15-2011 07:00 PM

There are three brand new ramps made in NewBedford.

Gifford St ramp puts you in the harbor, near the dike.

The West Rodney French Boulevard ramp has the best location putting you the closest in buzzards bay, even closer the Padarum ramp. Its float can only hold two boats at a time. A single lane ramp.

The East Rodney French Boulevard ramp is on the opposite side near Davey's Locker. If its blowing N/NE.. I would avoid this ramp, other then that its good. It has a pier not a float. A double lane ramp.

Padawan 10-15-2011 09:16 PM

I should be in that day, but I will be launching from Padanurm...

Do you have to wait for the bridge to open at that ramp?

Sea Dangles 10-16-2011 07:30 AM

Tough to scout for Tog lately but I will make an attempt on tuesday. I tentatively have JackK, Angler229, and Fishbones as customers. Looking forward to some good togging.

beamie 10-16-2011 08:26 AM

Guys, let me know who I can ho a ride with if you have a opening. Have gas money etc, will try to trap small crabs in the river this week.

Never been toggin, what size type of hook?

Got Stripers 10-17-2011 10:54 AM

If it blows like this past weekend I'll opt for the golf course instead, my boat rides low in the bow and would be problematic if it's 4 footers at anchor. What is the launch site and projected fishing location, curious what the options are if it blows hard.

PRBuzz 10-17-2011 11:27 AM

Long range forecast showing Sunday pretty nice, upper 50's and sunny. Will have to wait for the wind/wave forecast.....

Mr. Sandman 10-17-2011 12:39 PM

I just came across this....Is it still on for the 23rd???
I went toggin once a couple weeks ago and it was kinda slow with a lot of shorts. But the water temp has dropped since then.

I have to see if this will work....I kind of promised the wife I would take her to Nantucket that weekend so it may be out for me this year. The 5th is no good for me either so I may be out of luck this year. I will see if I can work some magic.
I did it last year and it was fun. We had a bunch of fish and a lot of laughs.

In any case I will be out there mid week when the weather is nice. The wind has been killer the last few days here.

fish4striper 10-17-2011 01:21 PM

My boats full Niko, TT, my buddy Bill

Scouted out the ramps Goose mentioned, looking to use this one- West Rodney French Boulevard ramp

looks like a nice little weather window for sunday - let's hope it holds out. we will be fishing lower buzzards bay and we are going to try and launch out of new bedford - or anywhere you want to launch and just meet up at the spot. with all this crappy weather the spot probably hasn't had much pressure - it should be stacked up w/ fish :jump1:

Padawan 10-17-2011 07:13 PM

Just hand over all the lures now!!!! im going to catch the beast!!!!!

Mr. Sandman 10-18-2011 07:09 AM

As usual, I over commit to stuff...It is going to be a last min call for me this weekend.... and if I can squeeze it in to my weekend, I will probably have a few anglers from my neck of the woods on board.
If not... I could offload some that are over filled. Hope to see you out there.
Sorry for the indecision on my end, my life is not well structured these days. If anything changes I will post.

Padawan 10-18-2011 07:15 AM

if you want in on the pool you need to contribute a plug per person. we will weigh the fish out on the water as there will be boats launching from different ports. last year we launched around 7:30 or 8 am. no real finish time

You will need 2 plugs per person.
And you will need to weigh your fish on our boat. We will have a certified scale that will cost 1 beer per fish weigh in. Btw make sure everyone on your raft has a saltwater license.

First long range forecast for BuzzBay on Sunday:

SUN
W WINDS AROUND 10 KT. SEAS 1 FOOT OR LESS.:)

Sea Dangles 10-19-2011 06:52 AM

Great news with the forecast, let's hope it holds up.I tried to get out yesterday for what was supposed to be 5-10,not even close. Went upriver with eels... nice to know there are still some quality bass around but the chocolate milk water means you have to hit them on the head. Lost a serious fish up near Hixbridge...heartbreak for my copilot who is all thumbs.

Padawan 10-19-2011 07:13 AM

Do you wanna catch a ho on my raft?
