Guy wanted $17K but I went to see the boat in CT with a cashiers check for $15K made out to me. Told him we could go to Bank of America and cash it and I would hand him cash. BINGO, DONE!!

yeah it is a great time to buy. The guy wanted 11K for my boat and I didnt pay anywhere close to that. The motor had 100 hours when I bought it. He was pretty depressed on how much money and time he had put into it only to watch someone else enjoy it.

The fiance wants something with a cuddy that we can take the vinyard and block for the weekends. Not for a little while but I have my eye out on some. Im falling in love with the Pursuit OS 255. Hopefully i can keep the seacraft for fishing.

Simple, straightforward, economical, with a big cockpit.
Very good sea boat as well.

(we swapped out the portable livewell in the pic for a huge built-in this winter -- big improvement)

JohnR, did you ever complete that seacraft project you had shipped up from Florida? status?

those old Alcar's were real battle wagons... no frill fishing boats... i worked on /set up quite a few back in that era ( mid 80's) when I worked for riverfront marine..

Yeah you,ll love it ............ get you to where you want //within reason & for cheap ;
I really hope to use mine alot more this year .....................Its been just about a strictly holdover tin rig .. kept saying I was going to get it to fish PJ in 2011 . never got there .

I have a 16' Duranatic w/ a 2 y/o Mercury 30HP 4-stroke .............. Ok I blew up the 4-stroke Honda that came with it .
I bought it from someone on this site some years ago /he had it in better than new shape ,But that,s over with .

I have to decide [real] soom what I,m doing with the Sea Hunt . I have to let the dealer know if I,m fixing the 150 or repower w/ a 2012 4-stroke 150 by the end of the year to get the boat show incentive ><><>><

I just borrow it every now and then....

'Valhalla Rising' early 90's 29ft Blackfin.
She's proven her self repeatedly as a great sea boat for the slop we get around here...
And while it doesn't raise marlin, it raises Wahoo like a bastard...

You got into any monsters with those?

I'm resisting the temptation to buy tiagra 130s when I have a couple of perfectly good old generation 2 speed Penn 80s.

2000 Sea Fox 230WA 175hp Johnson Ocean Pro. 1st year with her and lovin it. Stepping up next year, got a slip reserved and under deposit. Cant wait

big jay 12-19-2011 07:30 AM

No real sea monsters with them, but they've been solid on decent fish.

I wouldn't trade what you have for the 130's - just add the bigger ones to the arsenal when you can. You can never have too many tuna rods...(especially if you start doing things like a dedicated kite rod with braid)

Typhoon 12-19-2011 09:51 AM

I have two single speed 130s. One is a dedicated kite rod.

big jay 12-19-2011 09:39 PM

I had 1 fish season before last that got down near the bottom of the spool and scared the crap out of me, seemed like a monster but I broke off without seeing it, so who really knows. Since then I Ditched the Dacron and went to 600 yards of 200lb hollow, and a 150 yard mono top shot - that's as much capacity as a 130 with 200 Dacron plus top shot, so no more worries.

Load up the 80's - you can really make a mess with 4.
