when you've learned to catch fish there on plugs, jigs, bait or eels in multiple spots on each side, learned how to move in on people kindly without mugging them, had fun during good times and slow times. It also helps to have friends with cell phones like Numbskull said, sometimes I wish I had more than just one friend :)

You see the same 25# bass go by 5 times on some guy's bike.

Your gear is worth more than the vehicle you drive.

... you have the entire place to yourself all night, and at first light, dudes in jeans stand come and stand and cast 15 feet to your left and right.

You think there are seven inches to a foot and five ounces to a pound.

...."when?"....

You drive over an hour to get to the Canal, but end up parking at Dunkin Donuts for an additional hour just to....:chatter::chatter: ...and then go on to complain about somebody fishing in the spot that you drove over an hour to get to....

Just move another 35 feet away, and we can all be beautiful.

Swimmer 08-27-2012 08:06 AM

When your on a first name basis with numerous brown and black ferrets. Or the ferrets are the only friends you have, and sometimes answer you when you ask deep and peenetrating questions at 3 a.m.

Someone edjamacate me...what's the difference between a Canal Fisherman and a Troll? or dare I ask?

tysdad115 08-27-2012 02:01 PM

A "troll" is a (for the most part) defunct group that used to be...and that's all I got to say about that.

FishermanTim 08-27-2012 03:52 PM

I thought "troll" was what they did down in P-town?

FishermanTim 08-27-2012 03:53 PM

You know when everyone knows where to find you, when to find you, and you keep referring to this as "your secret spot"!

Precisely Lou, his Indian name is - "He Who Cranks Too Fast". His LEGENDARY status and fabulous hair can be admired for miles. Many try and fail to achieve his dynamic .0014321 hook up ratio, you know your a true canal fisher when you look that good NOT catching fish. :fishslap:

Hmm, Sounds like he has a soft tip on his rod and the cranking too fast is giving him premature extraculation!!

Once again, your jealousy astounds me. As I have expressed to your" Less than humble PTJR, and yourself, ( PRO TIPS)" that refuse to use hooks on my plugs when fishing for SMALL FISH. When I'm fishing for large, you know that I only need and use 1 hook. I know you have seen how well that works for me and not you.. You seem to need 6,12, 48 hooks on each plug. Too each his own. I'm going back to watching the pretty rain fall.. Go yell at someone.
