Got lucky at polls. Big line waiting for A-L , nobody in line at all for M-Z. Got called up to the front , showed ID and voted. In and out in 10 minutes.

I always feel good after voting!

I'm interested in a Massachusetts house race between Sean Bielat and one of the Kennedys. Go to love the Kennedys, who believe (with good reason) that the pubic has bestowed them with a birth right to any job they want in Washington DC. I actualy met Bielat a few times and love him (decorated Marine, very successful businessman), but I gather he's not polling well.

I didnt know Bielat was running, I assume for Frank's old seat.
I hope he wins and Brown too.

Nobody is forcing her to stay at that job. If it's that bad, she should quit and get a better job. We're always hiring at my place of employment. Not a bad gig if you don't mind minimum wage plus tips, very little job security and extremely limited benefits.

Why bother when I can just go on the dole and receive my $50k in benefits, free health care, free cell phone and fish whenever I want to?

The Dad Fisherman 11-06-2012 02:31 PM

This thread is about reminding people to get out and vote....not pissin and moaning about politics.

This is getting close to being cast into the Pit of Despair

stripermaineiac 11-06-2012 02:36 PM

Not her it's me. The vac note was about the ist lady's trips. Easy to say just quit when you have 20 yrs in and don't get social securty due to gov retirement plan .Funny how people want to have a safe society but those charged with keeping it that way keep goin without raises an such an seem to be the target of political cheep shots.Just remember that when you do have to call for help or have a dirtbag hurt you or a family member that dealin with it isn't free.

Frank's seat doesn't exactly exist. They re-districted, which made that area less liberal, so Frank resigned arther than get humiliated by losing. Bielat is running again against one of the Kennedy royalty.

So in this election, Massachusetts could send a Kennedy and Princess Spreading Bull to DC. Awesome.

Ron, I'm guessing your government retirement plan will be better than my social security if there's even anything left when I retire. And I'm not taking any cheap shots at what you do. It's a hard job for sure. I have family members who work in prisons and as police officers. For the record, I haven't had a raise in almost 4 years and my company could fire me at any time. I would think you have better job security after 20 years than a lot of ther rest of us have. My post was more about people wating to complain about stuff like they have no choice. There's always a choice.

May depend onn whether the lawyers get involved.

1dozenraw 11-06-2012 07:29 PM

Four years ago tomorrow story.

I was fishing/practice conventional casting at the end of the road by the boat launch at Quonnie. Two newer, large pickups pulled up and 3 men around my age (60s) got out. I noted some stickers on the trucks relating to the military and NRA and The Flag of These United States displayed prominently. As the three approached they were loudly expressing their displeasure with the outcome of the election. I listened but decided not to participate. But after a minute or two I heard one or two of these folks express a desire that "the g.d. fool" (might have been an SOB in there as well) screw everything up and an "I hope he really makes a mess of things".

At this point I decide to ask a couple of questions. I said, "You all are patriots... correct?" They acknowledged that they were to a man, definitely patriots.

I then asked, "Well then could you explain how patriots like yourselves would justify hoping that the democratically elected President of These United States would screw everything up and make a real mess of things?"

We fished on in absolute silence. I was grateful that I had asked these questions.. and grateful the I wasn't one of the guys who were asked.

No matter who wins tonight, I will pray for his success. Lord knows we need it and Lord knows we need to pull together at every opportunity.

I guess they redistricted me so now I don't even know who my rep is

Depends on the margin. If it's close I'd expect there to be some serious attorney whackery on either side.

I know I am a little late but I hoped everyone voted because they COULD. Imagine living in a country where this was not an option, not a priveledge or a right.

With that being said sometimes your choices are between a turd sandwich or a giant douche (thank South Park for that one) and you may not be able to vote for one you LIKE......thats when you should change your thinking. If nothing else vote against the one that irritates you more.

Took my son down to vote around 6 last night. The kid was truly excited. Went home and sat in front of his laptop watching the returns coming in.

Slipknot 11-07-2012 06:11 AM

So, Who won?

I saw last night that Scott Brown lost, but who won the Presidency?
I figured I'd be able to find out here this AM before watching news or listening to radio

Well I guess the polls slammed this post into oblivion.

Jim, Frank retired, he didn't resign 'so he didn't get humiliated'.
