Lost it 8pm last night in EP and got it back at 7pm. Less than 24hrs and the house got to 48 inside. Very thankful to have it back tonight. This was my first time not having heat in the winter and what a reality check! They need to think of a more intimidating name than Nemo for the next storm..

Last night looked very eerie .. Newport bridge's lights were only working on the east side. The west side of the bridge was totally black.

Power went out around 11:00 Friday night and came back on at 6:00 AM. The only thing I hate is my kids being cold. They did fine and slept through the night but I just remember running out of oil when I was a kid and freezing and my dad worked for an oil company - never really understood that. Really bad feeling being cold, makes you feel for people that can't afford heat or are homeless, makes you really appreciate what you have. A women that loves me (for some unknown reason). healthy family and friends, a roof over my head - with HEAT and food in my belly, the rest is all bull#^&#^&#^&#^&.
On a lighter note later in the day yesterday the lights went out again around 2:00. We waited a little while then put a call into the light company. Just after my wife told the women the lights went out they came back on. We told her what amazing service, that she must have flicked a switch, we all had a good laugh. All kidding aside Hingham light is really good, been here 14 years in a coastal community and don't ever remember being without power for too long, I am currently knocking on my head which happens to made out of wood. Be safe out there!!! :uhuh: |
Still no power, it sucks but kind of funny seeing the 18 year old girl and 15 year old boy going nuts without the electronics.

Just got it back since friday night. If there's one thing I learned from a storm like this:
Lego sets from the 80's have absolutely terrible instructions |
never lost power...not even during Sandy. (there is something to be said for underwater and underground cables)
|
Just got it back an hour ago. Wife is out of town and the kids all found friends who had power so it was just me here stoking the fireplaces. Too much stoking as at 2 30 this morning I had a chimney fire that fortunately extinguished itself. 49 degrees this morning but warmer than the 3 it was out at the woodshed.!!!

44 inside... No heat...
This is about the fourth time in the last two years. its getting old. I think it's time to buy a generator. What's a decent one go for? Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

We came back online last night. Kept the kids happy and wifi going with a small power inverter. Of the 13 years I've been here all the power outages have been in the past 2 years.

Right now there are more utility trucks in the vaciity moving around than electrons! Truck sitting across the street for 3hrs, maybe had the boom raised and working for a total of 20min.

Still out here since 6:00 Friday. No cell service at the house either... Sitting at the laundromat, headed for a hotel room... Eff this...

I've heard alot of reports of trucks just sittin around doing 'manly' things
|
45hrs, we are BACK! Truck sat there 5hrs, maybe 30min actual work but it is the last 5 min that counted when the guy threw the breaker. Major coordination effort with other points of breakage.
|
Still camping, although we have hot water and the wood stove is cranking.

I was out for about 30 hours. Most of Bourne is still out. My neighborhood has underground lines, which helped out.

We lost power.....worst 6 minutes of my life!:rotf2::biglaugh::jump1::rotflmao::think:

This storm was a wake up call for lots. Westport sent out cAll they were gonna do minimal plow till storm over roads r still HORRENDOUS. Driven smoother easier dirt roads on block.
We lost power from 9 Friday till about 9 last nite. When massive blue arcing lit up yrad Generator but no heat had to ship fam off to outlaws as she never lost power down street. Got mighty cold down to 42 in house with space heaters cranking This storm sucked. Got just enough of driveway done to get out when drive gear on ariens disintegrated. Smaller ariens couldn't handle it. And still had to figure out other family memebers that I responsible for. Too much horrible shoveling The. Power came on And heating element that ignites 1st floor furnace toasted big thanks to 5/0 that was able to talk me through a transplant of the part from the attic furnace. Couldn't get part Anywhere today No cable. Worried that the power surge toasted all our electronics tht were plugged into same surge protector - blue ray player, phone, Internet stuff and dust buster. Tv was plugged into same wall socket and is fine. Garage door opener not workin either. Gotta put a call into insurance co tomorrow. Joyous blizzard. Crazy thing is I remember it used to snow like this all the time as a kid and it was just the norm Was funny at Home Depot today watching people fighting for $1200 snowblowers and generators. A truck came in with a load of generators and people were waiting in line to help them unload them directly into their shopping carts Westportmafia still has no power 2 miles down the street so I let him punish my toilet and shower and sent my generator home with him |
CCCC closed tomorrow...... until 3pm.
#^&#^&#^&#^&ing night class....:1poke: |

Lost power friday night at 1130pm & came back on Sunday night at 830pm. Yesterday morning was the coldest, inside house temp dipped down to 32 degrees!!
Drove down to Chatham and picked up a spare generator from my cousin and my neighbor wired directly to my burner. Within a few hrs I had the house temp back up into the 60s. Was very worried about my water pipes. Still have friends in town w/o power right now, sucks. |
