here's an old atom bomb that I found that was plastic, had tons of gouges and chunks taken out of it, so I scraped it, did a lttle carving of of the seam lines and put some wood filler over it....something to get me by...lol

Wow fellas you guys have been busy!
Man I am way behind the ball....a lot of great stuff being built and posted on this forum!! Well I finally found a little time to get a few things finished, and at the same time get rolling on some new stuff ( little girl is teething and that doesn't leave a lot of time for building or sleep) Here are some of the crank baits I've been working on and finally finished. First attempt at foiling..didn't turn out as well as planned, but with me everything has it learning curve. Hard to capture in these pics (cell phone) but some of the color shifts in the sun are very cool. I will be making some more in the future. http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps81106f15.jpg I also cut a bunch of flaptail and swimmer blanks along with my large Musky spooks (a pic of a finished one for reference). The flaptalis and swimmer blanks are 6 inches and between 2.5 (flaptails) and 3 oz (swimmers). The Musky spooks are 8.5 inches and about 4.5 oz, I really love the action of these guys and really hope to slay some waterwolfs with them this season. http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...psbd2f8e2a.jpg http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps40e43061.jpg http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...psb663f5a0.jpg http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps4e568de9.jpg I hope building is going well and also that spring is right around the corner Best MS |
as always, I'm in awe of all you guys!!!

Always amazed to look at the quality of everyone's work. I have my second batch of plugs freshly painted. From left to right five 6" Musso Pine Swimmers, two 7" A-40s, three Eddy Needles, and four 6" Musso surface swimmers.
In the works are 3 Sandeel Swimmers and 2 more 4.875" Musso swimmers. Love that the days are getting longer, it is only a short time until we can get these things to work! |
Got some nice ones there
Primed 67 plugs today. That's it . Next up paint and hopefully get some epoxied before the festival. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Thanks fellas
Been using bunch if pine I got from a buddy, weighting is almost exactly as when I use cedar, but free-fifty-free is a good price :) Great thread and people have been busy. Cool, cool MS Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

My first attempts at darters, thanks to everyone that offered advice.
|
Look good. I am curious on what kind of action you get with that line tie down there. I have found the ones I have swam made like that to be more of a swimmer than a darter.

Gave it a swim today in some current, for winging it on this one I was somewhat happy. It did not roll over, dug in good and swims about 2-3 ft. some darting action but also a little too much wiggle. I did not weight it before test but I think it needs weight aft of the balance point. Added 1/2 oz. and will try again tomorrow. That's 5.5 oz. with the weight added.

Bummed not getting to do any plugs this winter. Bought a house and it's keeping me far to busy. Hopefully for next winter I'll have my new shop all set up and get to it again. Some, seriously nice work being done on here.
|
George is the an explosion proof blower? If it is , that's something i could use doing my bat finishing.
|
Dan good luck with the new house. Place looks great.

Wow, nice work from many builders. Plugs and non-plugs alike!
I finally took a couple pics of what I have been up to lately. Some more of the slider/jerkbait type of plugs I like to make and fish in different sizes as well as some needles and some new swimmers I have been working on. There is a bunch of other stuff I did not get pics of yet. A couple mahogany needles in mackerel and purple scale and a slow sinking slider. All right around 6" (pic is a bit distorted) 3 of my new swimmers. They are 5.5" and swim just subsurface to around 4 feet depending on retrieve speed. 2 macks still need epoxy. A box of assorted stuff. HEAVY maple macks, herring and yellow sliders, blurple jointed etc. |

And more...
2 heavy, fast sink maple mackerel sliders built for friends for the canal. Assorted small stuff from 3.5 to around 7". All slow sinking. And 1 pic of some of the collaboration work I have been doing with GooGoo Man. My mack paint on some of his fantastic slim pikies and super jr's. I also did some redfin style swimmers and nikes for him which I can't wait to see epoxy on. |
J Mac beautiful stuff. Those sliders Offset turned?
