Due to some Shared info I was able to get some Albies 3 in all all on Pink Albie snacks would have done better took to long to figure pink was it by then the bite slowed . the 3rd fish fought like the 1st 2 fought him for a bit had him boat side he took some line and was just swimming while I was messing with a go pro then it took off pulling far more line eaiser then at the start with a constant rap rap rap like head shakes ? felt like a different fish thought damn he's tail wrapped put some pressure 20lb floro came back frayed. I don't want to say a shark grabbed it But it was weird
|
That thumping, rapping, is his tail banging on the line as he heads away.

Been hitting them pretty good with Rebel jumpin minnows and pink Hogy epoxy jigs, but I also brought out the fly rod on Monday and managed to land two on on a small self-tied Clouser. Bad azz.

Nice bonding time for you and Pops.
I saw the other vessel on them yesterday down my way. |

Yea Chris, my dad and I have been out there a lot lately, but he's got me beat. Dude gets out for em like every day. And wdmso, I was using the smaller size in pink until I lost both to an overly sensitive bail. Tied on the larger and still managed a few, though. Pink was hot for sure. Oh, and yeah, that's us in the cat.

Went South this AM from Newport with a a friend from work (freshwater guy)
wow what a school of Albies no pods there. Got him hooked up 1st cast pink larger hogie , he didnt know what was happening between the 3 footers and trying to get around the boat the drag screaming he got it boat side swallowed the whole lure , while dealing with that had him throw an Albie snak he hooks up again (smaller rod) I get the lure out when he say's I lost It!! Iam thinking ok NP I look at the reel There's no Braid just 10Lb backing WTF I say to myself retie the pink hogie hes on again this time he gets cut off under the boat 2nd wtf JUST BOUGHT THAT THING LAST NIGHT at SWE . luckly for me and my gear the bite died the wind was picking up and was home by 1030 |

Got a few this morning but seas were really not tin boat weather. Rock and roll and wet.
breakfast time now. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
What does this pink hogey lure look like where do you buy them
Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Bait is real small where I am fishing and they turn their nose up at the hogy. Have had much better luck with the small Mac Daddy lure in pink , but the finish falls off after 2 fish which sucks but been the ticket last few times out for me.

After much looking, I thought I found them.....but ended up being a school of 3# bloofish busting on the bait.....another boater said they were mixed in, but it wasn't meant to be.
Did get pretty wet though..... Perhaps I'll look in another direction tomorrow......weather depending. Where are the bass (even the 20+" fish that should be working this bait)???? With all this bait I've been seeing, it should surface all predators,,,, if they're resident that is...:hs: |

Thanks guys much appreciate the help. Just out of curiosity has anybody tried mackerel rigs or sabiki rigs fished on top? Seems like it might work, similar to the way we catch hickory shad

Gilly tons & tons of bait ...most I,ve seen in at least 20 years ..................when fish get on them its been all blues ................... yesterday they were 2# ......... & like the old days a boat comes flying in ......... I see he has a 6" swimmer on /&&& then begins to troll :smash:
