No word. I don't have a good feeling about this - its been almost two weeks. I know comas can last a while but the longer they are cannot be good.

Raven 11-17-2014 03:53 PM

as a result of a heart attack???

Swimmer 11-17-2014 06:28 PM

It did start with Pneumonia. Nothing has changed with his condition but he has not gotten worse either. He has been down for awhile. Hoping for the best.

Thank you for the update. I saw some posts on FB and I thought he was out of the woods or at least closer - now I can't find the posts.

Jackbass 11-18-2014 05:04 AM

I am sure Danya will let everyone know if there is a change.

Thats not good. I didn't know he was in a coma.

Tony is such a great guy, and it weighs on me to hear he is not doing well.

Does anyone have contact info for the family?
If someone has further info please pm me.

Jackbass 11-21-2014 08:18 AM

Danya updated the group last night on FB Tony opened his eyes for the first time in 17 days. Small steps at this point. There is an effort to help out with medical expenses on go fund me.

The guy is a fighter. Keep his son in your thoughts over the next few days. Many of us with young kids know the only thing he would be concerned with is Anton's well being if he were lucid currently, I am more than certain. There is one little boy on the cape that could really use a happy thanksgiving next week.

I heard from KarlF today, and he gave me good news. Tony was awake, they just took out breathing tube so it's hard for him to speak. He has a long way to go but that sounds like good progress to me.

Just bumped in to Karl F at hospital. I was heading in to get stitched up, stupid me . He was heading up
To see Tony. He seemed optimistic that he was doing better.

FWIW, Tony never did hold the all-tackle record. He held the "unofficial" shore record, and co-holds the state record with Charlie Cinto.

And AFAIK, Bertha is still the second largest bass ever taken from shore.

He was running the dropper because there were cod in the surf feeding on sand eels. And the bass hit the dropper, not the eel.

Rochetta caught his fish during a lunar eclipse, if memory serves.

bart 11-27-2014 06:11 AM

What was the largest shore-caught bass? Rochetta's was by boat, right?

Sea Dangles 11-27-2014 07:57 AM

I once caught Rochetta's rod while yo yo fishing at the race.
