Nice to see they are out there. My herring run spots are dead beyond what I have ever seen. Gives me mojo to to keep at it.

Well, I hit the beach this morning for the first time this season, had an hour to kill. Crosswind. But, picked up 4 schoolies before heading home to get ready to play golf :) Nothing showing and no birds, but they are here.

Not big by old standards, but it was a pleasant surprise to catch one way up inside BB, while targeting sea bass. The last weakfish I caught was also on one of my 4" split tails off Westport maybe 15 years ago, looking forward to something new for dinner tomorrow night. Another kayaker said he also dropped one at the yak, so a few must have been up inside.

fishgolf 05-19-2021 04:58 PM

Hey Got Stripers! That looks like my Kayak! :) Used to catch them in Weekapaug all the time and great eating.

that's awesome and a nice surprise when you get it to the boat and realize what you caught.....I used to get them in the Sakonnet but it was sporadic and usually Aug/Sept ....wish we had bigger populations...such pretty fish

did well for a couple of nights...the bulk of the nice ones has moved upriver towards the Lawrence dam ( I presume).. scratch fishing last night..alot of small stuff top water and on the long rod, bigger ones ( 6-10lbs) down deep on sluggos on jig heads.. damn water is 48 at high tide...I've been trailering the boat while I break in the new power head, glad I can leave it on the dock starting today..

Yup uploading pics on this site is bizarre. If I preview a pic and it’s rotated wrong, I have to delete it, open it in paint. There I rotate it, save it, then open it again to rotate back to the way it looked to start and by the way the exact way I uploaded it to start. I upload it to my post again and miraculously it’s correct, when nothing changed other than a back and forth in paint to change nothing, bizzarro world on here.

Those are really nice fish. Reminds me of 05 and 06 when I got the Sea Hunt and "He who cannot be mentioned" and I were crushing large on a daily basis. Problem was, we killed everything we caught.

When I saw the tide and sea forecast yesterday am, I knew it would be a good tog bite in the skinny water on the incoming. I love fishing freshwater bass spinning tackle for tog with plastic. It was a fish on every cast for a while, my usual 3/8 oz. kalin ultimate jig head and my olive or smoke 4” split tail. It’s amazing how aggressive tog are when those conditions line up, good running tide, some good swell to generate lots of white water, they are opportunistic and will readily hit plastic. Not sure I’d take a tippy kayak as close as I got today, but my PA14 is like a big surfboard, just rides right up and over them.

Was met at the dirt ramp by an EP officer, he measured my one keeper tog and then insisted on seeing my license. I’m sweating bullets in the midday sun and trying to find the picture I always take of the license, pain in the ass. Go harass the poachers on the bridge, no you have to find the only guy nuts enough to peddle out to fish the slop on Hens and Chickens ledge really?

scottw 07-20-2021 05:41 AM

the poachers and litterers are too much trouble....because I have spin and fly gear, shore and paddle board stuff I print a bunch of copies of my license at the beginning of the season, put them in little zip lock bags and shove them in all of my gear, can't always remember where I put them but I figure my odds are good for finding one if I need to present one:rotf2:

Got Stripers 07-20-2021 02:47 PM

I always have my phone and picture of the license off my computer every season I purchase it, it just a little much in light of what I see every year for the guy to bust me for one legal tog.

Clammer 07-20-2021 04:26 PM

I run a few copies & have them coated

1 i n the boat , 1 in the truck , 1 in the bag I take 95% of the time & one in my wallet

commercial in my pocket
