Our politicians are on the same bottom rung with divorce lawyers: Win at all costs and destroy the other side while you are at it.... Term limits, please.

Making decisions based on right from wrong, when voting in the US Congress, is clearly not exclusive to either party.... This is at the core of the problem in our current state of affairs. We have serious problems when Nikki Minaj or Kim Kardashian hold more sway in such vital decisions among such a large demographic in America.

I do not believe AOC has nearly the power her media coverage would have/desire you to believe.

Jim, your "pork" comment is spot on. The infrastructure bill should have absolutely nothing attached nor hanging on its coattails.

Pete F. 09-19-2021 06:15 PM

Joe Manchin is a Senator from a state that ranks last in infrastructure, 48th for economy, 47th for healthcare and economic opportunity, 45th for education.
Just who is he representing, his constituents are Americans that would stand to gain the most from what the Democrats propose.

What is the point of assuring people people that Trump "might seem" unhinged? That would also assure people that Trump might not seem unhinged.

Perhaps his constituents don't agree with you. They voted for him. Maybe they think they "stand to gain" other things more.

correct. i guess pete should get to decide which states have a senator and which do not.

and Senator Sinema from AZ also says she won’t back that bill. I guess Pete will tell us why AZ doesn’t count either.

There are 2 of 50 democrat senators who are capable of acting on their own ( not a lot of republicans capable of that either), and both are opposed to the bill. but it’s only the republicans fault.

Back to before the train wreck
“The focus on Milley misses a larger point: He was just one of a half-dozen senior military and civilian officials who took similar unusual steps during the final months of Trump’s administration to prevent what they feared might be a catastrophe.”

i agree with that 100%. but in your previous post (#38) weren’t you were critical of republicans for opposing biden’s defense budget? you’re kind of all over the place.

Seems like you’re saying every single thing democrats do is righteous and honest, and every single thing everyone else does is bad.

White voters without a four-year degree made up 69 percent of voters there in 2020, according to census data, the highest in the country.

And Joe Manchin has a dream that he will be reelected, it's unlikely.

it sure seems like you’re saying you have an issue with white people who don’t have a 4 year degree. i thought liberals were tolerant and inclusive?

If you have a 4 year degree, it doesn’t seem to be doing you a while lot of good in terms of civility or honest thinking.

Manchin was elected senator in 2010, 2012, and 2018. He was governor before that. You don’t think he’s going to win in 2024, do you think he’ll lose to a republican, or will he lose in a primary to a more liberal democrat.

Always looking for insults, poor victim, no issues, just the facts.

They elected TFG.

I think Manchin will lose in the general to a trumplican, so does he.
He's considered running for governor again and he's 74 and will be 77 in the next election cycle.

Something will happen, lots of political games coming

“they elected trump.”

and they elected Manchin, who is a pretty liberal democrat.

You’re concerned with Manchins age, but not Biden’s?

People have been saying for ten years that Manchins time
is up. i don’t like him, i’d like to see him lose, but he’s popular there.

I think Joe Manchin is concerned with his age, you'll figure it out when you grow up, 40 is a long time for adolescence

All right, all the way, no centrist can survive.

If Manchin is a liberal Democrat in your view, because he voted with the Biden agenda items is Bernie then more right wing?

The pandemics 2nd wrongest commentator continues to just be clueless.

Every other state has a higher death rate than Vermont!

Only 294 people in VT have died. The point of the vaccines is that it protects from hospitalization and death.

Gov Phil Scott has been pro-vax & its working

The point of the vaccines was to prevent you from getting it to prevent the spread till it became obvious that you could still get it and spread it if you are vaccinated

You're the one who brought up trolling with your troll. And you are the Troll par excellence on this forum.

"Internet troll. In Internet slang, a troll ( /troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community"

No-one posts as much digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages than you. Nor starts as many quarrels as you.

So Troll all you want. But its meta trolling to insert the notion of someone else's supposed trolling as if it were some compelling response when in fact it is what you continuously do. Not to mention blatant hypocrisy.

Milley confirms previous reports that he received an unclassified, unsigned order to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan by Jan. 15, apparently arbitrary plans during Trump's lame-duck term to fulfill a campaign promise and stymie incoming administration.

Tom Cotton GENERAL MILLEY, I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THAT YOUR ADVICE ABOUT STAYING IN AFGHANISTAN WAS REJECTED. I’M SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT YOUR ADVICE WASN’T SOUGHT UNTIL AUGUST 25 ON STAYING PAST THE AUGUST 31 DEADLINE. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU’RE THE PRINCIPAL MILITARY ADVISER; THAT YOU ADVISE, YOU DON’T DECIDE. THE PRESIDENT DECIDES. BUT IF ALL THIS IS TRUE, GENERAL MILLEY, WHY HAVEN’T YOU RESIGNED?’

Gen

AS A SENIOR MILITARY OFFICER, RESIGNING IS A REALLY SERIOUS THING. IT’S A POLITICAL ACT, IF I’M RESIGNING IN PROTEST. MY JOB IS TO PROVIDE ADVICE. MY STATUTORY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE, OR BEST MILITARY ADVICE, TO THE PRESIDENT… THE PRESIDENT DOESN’T HAVE TO AGREE WITH THAT ADVICE. HE DOESN’T HAVE TO MAKE THOSE DECISIONS JUST BECAUSE WE’RE GENERALS, AND IT WOULD BE AN INCREDIBLE ACT OF POLITICAL DEFIANCE FOR A COMMISSIONED OFFICER TO JUST RESIGN BECAUSE MY ADVICE IS NOT TAKEN. THIS COUNTRY DOESN’T WANT GENERALS FIGURING OUT WHAT ORDERS WE ARE GOING TO ACCEPT AND DO OR NOT. THAT’S NOT OUR JOB. THE PRINCIPLE OF CIVILIAN CONTROL OF THE MILITARY IS ABSOLUTE — IT’S CRITICAL TO THIS REPUBLIC.’

And In addition to that, just from a personal standpoint, my dad didn't get a choice to resign at Iwo Jima,"

"And those kids there at Abbey Gate, they don't get a choice to resign, and I'm not going to turn my back on them," Milley said in "I'm not gonna resign– they can't resign, so I'm not going to resign, there's no way."

He added, "if the orders are illegal, we're in a different place, but if the orders are legal, from civilian authority, I intend to carry them out."

It’s seems Tom Cotton a former Captain thinks ones personal feeling should come before ones Duty..

Yet he condemned Jan 6th no quarter for insurrectionists. Those who attacked the Capitol today should face the full extent of federal law.

But blocked the Jan6th commission? And he questioned Milley principles ? Does he own any mirrors?
