1000 posts, I never ever imagined that it would go this far and I am truly humbled by the participation of everyone who contributed. Thank you all.
This 1000th post is a dedication and it's dedicated to all of you. The pictures posted in this thread tell a story, our story. We must remember that our sport has a past but more importantly we must remember it has a future as well. This site and others like it, help to preserve that past and foster the care of it's future and for that I am grateful. From the beginning of our sport, the Striped Bass has enjoyed a status far and above other lesser fishes, as the frontispiece for his work called "Fishing in American Waters" written in 1869, Genio C. Scott begs the pardon of his readers for putting an engraving of a Striped Bass lying on the rocky shore of Cuttyhunk. He explains his reason as his feeling that the Striped Bass was, and is, the finest gamefish in the world, a sentiment that I subsribe to as I am sure all of you do to. We must continue to support the efforts to protect our sport, the fish around which it revolves and the resources it needs to survive. We must also support this site and others like it as well. We are all afflicted with a desease for which, happily, there is no cure. And now a new season is coming upon us. As we go into the frenzied world of this upcoming season I would like to say God Bless you all and may he keep you safe as you stand at the ready in a furious surging surf or as you ride the wild edge of a heaving rip line. Soon the sight of a rod bent over in an agonal arc and the sound of a screaming drag will be yours. They are coming, let it begin. |

This was such an awesome thread, that I decided to use it for my 1000th post!!!
Great job Flaptail!... I have really enjoyed your posts as well as the posts of all who put up their Plugs!... I hope to be one who features the work of those who are currently building their own which are going to be the future classics! There are many great plugbuilders on this site, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds as the bar is continuously being raised!!! NICE JOB! Bliz #1000 :) |
Congratulations Bliz and kudos for your work on the Plug Project!:btu:
|
Thanks. :)
I am hoping that you will be attending the MSBA Plug event Flaptail, as you posess an incredible amount of knowledge about plugs through the ages... Have you ever considered publishing on the subject?... If not, you should seriously consider it! I for one, have thoroughly enjoyed hearing you speak on the subject. I am sure that many others feel the same... Who else here agrees? |
 Me, me, me!
|
I will be there on Saturday. No, I don't think I will ever publish on plugs alone. I am a "semi-pro" when it comes to the plug thing. Adam R. or VineyardBlues are the real pros here and there are others who, personalities aside, know much more than I. I am a Striped Bass junkie, plain and simple, that's all.
I can't wait to see your set up. Looking forward to the show although there is a part of me that wants to go trout fishing instead but that will have to wait till Sunday I guess. Anyway, Adios Amigo! |
The Plug Project collection will feature the Plugs that have been contributed up until this point as seen at the beginning of the Plug Project Update Thread.
As for display & set up of this project this weekend, keep in mind that this is at it's very inception, and will be growing as time goes on... I will be featuring aproximately 30 creations from those who are constituting the foundation of this project in two display cases which I am trying to have finished up before Saturday morning. As time goes on, I will be adding useful information that will accompany this growing collection which will speak about the subject of plug building. I hope to be able to have the likes of those like yourself, Adam R, Capesams, VineyardBlues and others join the display at various events in the future in order to share their knowledge and wisdom on the subject. That however... is going to take some time in order to set up... I look forward to seeing you there on Saturday! Bliz :) |
FLAPTAIL, there are no words to describe your tributes, except to say it shows your true character,a scholar and a gentleman.:)

fishingfreak, that is one excellent paint job. WOW. I'm impressed. Do you call that the Patriot Missle? I like it.

Great paint job but you would have to be crazy to throw that in the water. Too much work into it. You could definitely sell those for the 4th of July or to Pats fans
|
Or to Americans!:)

Thanks Flaptail :)

It’s a shame that we can’t get access to these pictures again! The thread was an awe-inspiring collection of saltwater “pluggage” history. It was an inspiration to all of us “want-to-be Stan Gibbs” working away in the basement during the cold, cold winter evenings, dreaming of the “large” that is going to smack our latest creation as it wiggles, waggles, pops or skips over the crest of in-coming wave. We dream of making “the” new plug that is going to call the striped ones from miles down the beach. The one with the “just right” shape. The one with the special paint job topped with the ironclad top coat to protect it from those nasty bluefish.
Could the chatter be edited out and just the pictures be posted again? Would this save sufficient bandwidth to let us view those pictures one more time? This time we would know enough to print out a hard copy to review while the snow flies. |
