What JohnR said.

Seriously bro if I did it,you can.You can get off the butts too Slingah.

Ask your doc about Wellbutrin.Don't let them push Zyban or Chantix on you.Its all the same.I'm telling you the gods honest truth,Wellbutrin works and the generic will cost you next to nothing.$14 and I've been free for over six years.

Eddie commands it dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thefishingfreak 01-08-2009 08:54 PM

yeah I tried the buproban and the bupropion with the same effect. Failure.
This time I have wellbutrin. I don't know if it's my frame of mind or what but its quite easy this time. I am not thinking about them all day long. I reach for my butts all the time but I just chuckle.
I can't sleep for sh*t. two hours at a time tops. up all night watchin the clock.
It's been a long relationship.. I'll be glad to see it go!

nightfighter 01-08-2009 08:56 PM

Yup.Sleep is all efd up....crazy dreams, lots of them, and I remember them too...just not the kind of dreams I would choose if I had a menu.....

thefishingfreak 01-08-2009 08:58 PM

yes very graphic nightmares here too. cold sweats and all.
I look at it as detox

gone fishin 01-08-2009 11:55 PM

Hi Mike - I quit many years ago. I had a three pak habit and know what you are going through. Keep up the battle, It is well worth it. Sleepless nights will pass. Son Jeff was told his heart attack was directly related to the smokes.

jimmy z 01-09-2009 05:56 AM

Still going. I had a stress filled day, Thursday. But did not succumb, :).

fish4striper 01-09-2009 09:21 AM

Good going Guys ,keep it up. It's tough but well worth it. I did it cold turkey a bunch of yrs back after smoking since I was a teen.

jimmy z 01-10-2009 07:39 AM

Thats right Day 10 for me.
I do think about picking up again. I'll just smoke 1 a day. Yeah thats it I'll be one of those people who only smoke on the weekends. Or i'll only smoke when I fish. Yeah thats what I'll do :smash:
The mind is a terrible thing

thefishingfreak 01-10-2009 07:48 AM

I also set up my bank account to automaticly withdraw 30 bucks a week into a savings acount. thats only about 1/2 of what I smoked, but this way I can at least see some kind of gain for my effort. Plus it's sort of another way to be held acountable as I do not have the money available to smoke any more.

Tell me about it! I quit drinking 11 1/2 years ago, and I think it was easier than this.:D
I know, strength is gained, when the temptation is overcome.
And strength in numbers, and accountability to another helps as well.:btu:

stcroixman 01-10-2009 08:06 AM

I saw this thread and want to wish everyone good luck with their quest.
Take it 1 day at a time, excersize, drink lots of water, read, whatever. I smoked over 15 years, both cigs and weed. It's been something >10 years since I quit both. I've got asthama to show for all that.

Just think of the money you can save for fishing!
You'll know you're on your way when you forget the exact amount of time you've quit.

Tagger 01-10-2009 09:43 PM

Clock watchers ,,,, turn your clock away, so you can't see it if you open your eyes.. worked for me .. I use to do the countdown until the alarm went off ..

jimmy z 01-11-2009 05:21 AM

I got rid of the old lighters. I don't believe in "yets".
No options for me, this time.:btu:
Stay strong fella's.

jimmy z 01-12-2009 04:46 AM

Just checking in. How's everyone holding up?
Another day, smoke free. :kewl:

thefishingfreak 01-12-2009 06:28 AM

same here day 12.
I think about them constantly it's amazing how your mind wonders. I reach for them thank god they are not there or I would have lit up allready..

Smart move, dump all the ashtrays and lighters, too. Everything that has to do with butts. 12 Days:jump:, keep it up.

Slingah!! , get back to it! Nothings easy that's worthwhile! Free yourself from the little tyrants.

saltfly 01-12-2009 08:24 AM

Just a word of support. As an X i know Keep it up you CAN do it.Slingah,it's ok get back on the horse :lama:[lama]and move on Don't Look Back.Look Ahead, that's what's in front of you.

Tagger 01-12-2009 08:34 AM

When I quit, they said (heart lung ass.) after 5 days you were not physicly addicted any more .. To me the mental was the nut to crack .. I remember, I'd be pissed at myself for starting again . Then I'd wake up and realize it was a dream . The tobbacco industry wants you on the hook . I remember I used to get this deep cough from the bottom of my lungs and this brown lungy would come up . The back of my teeth would get brown crap on them that only the dentist could get off .. Looking back it was pretty disgusting ,, and I was young and in my prime ... wasted . If some of this applys to you ,, It will all go away .. just hang in there .. Matt ?

stcroixman 01-12-2009 11:18 AM

Keep up the good work, men. It isn't easy to quit, but many accomplishments in life aren't easy. Keep yourselves busy!

Good Luck

jimmy z 01-13-2009 05:22 AM

Well, one more, under the belt. :btu:
Hang tough, everyone.

Slingah 01-13-2009 06:46 AM

thanks for all the support guys....I gotta hop back on the wagon

jimmy z 01-14-2009 04:34 AM

Have a good, smoke free day, everyone!
I hope all are doing well:wave:.

BigFish 01-14-2009 05:37 AM

Thanks Jimmy Z...day 16,143 for me!:hihi:

thefishingfreak 01-14-2009 05:39 AM

14 for me :hee:
There getting easier

Backbeach Jake 01-14-2009 06:24 AM

You're right, Tagger, the Superloogies are something else. I used to think of them as cast out demons, hork one into the toilet, and wave it goodbye. One less connection to the butts, gone. Soon they stop coming up. Keep up the good work guys, you're free now but you have to keep fighting those things. Good work so far.

BasicPatrick 01-14-2009 10:02 AM

Hey all,

I just found this thread.

It is the morning of day 9 for me. Using the gum and even though the box states 9-12 pcs per day I am only using 5-6.

So far it isn;t as bad as I thought but Frek said it in one of his posts, I think a lot has to do with where you are in your head.

Anyway...cool thread and I will check in.

Oh yeah, the worst thing so far is my teeth and gums hurt like hell.

thefishingfreak 01-14-2009 12:34 PM

I had to stop chewing gum as a substitute I was giving myself a headache. I got some sugar free root beer barells {hard candy} at wallgreens I can eat like 10 of them an hour they don't hurt your teeth and there pretty good.

tattoobob 01-14-2009 04:50 PM

Mike I used sun flower seeds last time I quit, watch out for the salt though
