I ran into Flaptail one early a.m. at RedTop. 45 min. later I found myself sitting in my truck thinking, "why didn't i get a piece of paper to take notes".

I also bought a canoe a couple years ago off of Slip. After some arm twisting he showed me his plug wall. WHOAH Some truly unreal stuff down there...absolutely incredible. He also threw out about a million fishing tips in the span of 20 min.

I will also say that if you are fishing that big ditch no one knows more than jpowers, ok maybe carl does, but I have never fished with him so I cannot make a fair comment. this season carl you and I will get together!!! bs4shore also is their category

to me the most striking cord here is humility. you can fish with any of these guys and feel like you belong even though they are putting you to shame...there is not a conceited bone in their body. Heck, they will even give you a fish if you really need one.

GREAT THREAD HABS. SAVE A BLACK NEEDLE FOR ME PLEASE!!!!!:D :D

I would like to fish with Flap sometime. After reading a few of his articles I know it would be a grat learning experience.

I would also love to fish with Iron Mike, Crazy Al, and Steve McKenna , all of these guys have some knowledge that needs to be passed down.

I have fished with some great people on this site, and whether or not we caught fish, we still had a great time. There is nothing like watching the light come by then getting slammed, right John ;)

Who?

I'll fish with anybody, anytime, anywhere, because novice or legend, everyone has something to teach you.

People say fisherman are anti-social. Next time I talk to someone I'll ask their opinon.

I have met many great guys through SOL and Striped-bass, many whom have become really good friends..some of the guys I have fished with and still do...Bob Celico, Dennis Zambrotta, Alberto, Kadir, Rizzo, Bill Nolan, Steve McKenna, Goose, Redlite, TimS, Dubbs, BlueCrab, Linesides, Poppy...Along with quite a few guys that dont post and that I may have missed...None the less all great guys! I spend 90% of the time fishing by myself, usually of the surf...I love that wetsuit more than anything, Block, Rhody, Cutty...Nothing like it. Anyone from these sites is always welcomed to fish with me off the surf, I dont mind sharing what Ive learned with those that are as passionate as I am...Ive had my share of 1000lb nights from the Rocks & Sand, many tmes without a soul nearby. The last two years I really got into my boat fishing, and if it wasnt for Mike Laptew I would have never have become such good friends with Gary Corsetti. I cannot describe what knowledge I have gained from that man, Yes, I may have fished with him hundreds of hours this past year, he shared 30 years of knowledge with me in just this past season! Its cause of him I went out there late season and broke at least one fish at 40lbs a tide along with many, many in the 30's, the man is unbelievable! As far as knowledge gained, I have learned more from him than anyone else as far as boat fishing. Cant wait for this season.....Some great guys on this site...To many fifties and sixties to come!

I went up to the cape Fished with my good friend Slip. An KarlF made it one night.I had a great time.I would like to Fish With BM as I think we would have a good time but the fishin was crappy then an he was takin care of buissness with the family so he could burn the midnight oil when it mattered.Maybe next yr.We can hook up.Would like to go out wit Steve(Flap)An Capesams in his boat also.I think it would be fun.Even though I say u learn all the time I know too much already.I can only start forgetting stuff now.Good company equals good time.I Have some hero type i wish i could've fished with here in NJ but most of em are gone.I would just as well sit down an shoot the %$%$%$%$e wit em as much as goin fishin.I like the stories. Some are still around Like Billy MacFadden an Freddy Gardner freddy is 75 yrs old an still gets out 2-3 time a week.he needs some rest to recoup after the allnighters.up till a few yrs ago he would do 5 all nighters a week. One of my mentors passed a few yrs ago i wish I could go fishin wit him.Johnny Burns.

A few years ago, when my son was still quite young, I took him fishing to Corn Hill. Easy access, lotsa parking. Well we drove onto the sand, passed another fishing party and set up soaking worms. The other party was "striking the tents" getting ready to go home. When one of them, an older gent, quite frail looking , asked if my son and I would like their eels. I accepted very gratefully. The older gent looked vaguely familiar, but I shook it off. We took our usually skunking and went home. While putting the gear away, the older gent came back to mind. I knew that I'd seen him somewhere before. About a week later I stumbled on a pic of Frank Woolner in an old magazine and I had my answer. The hat , the pipe , and that regal nose. I had my man. He passed soon after that and to this day I regret not sticking my hand out and introducing myself. That experience has brought me here S-B .com and other sites. That experience began my Quest for Knowledge in the Sand.;)

RIROCKHOUND 02-16-2005 07:28 PM

My grandfather..
He was pretty much out of the game when I was growing up, but he fished his whole younger life, I have heard many stories first hand from him and second hand from my father, but I would have like to have been there....

1) Not sure if hed be considered a surfcaster, but he was mentioned by one person earlier - Ted Williams. Maybe fish for tarpon in the Keys. Imagine what it would be like to have his undivided attention for several hours.

2) Al Gags. A funny guy who seems like he'd be great to fish with also.

3) Tony Stezko - only know him by articles and one seminar, but seems like the kind of guy that has the "knowledge".

4) Would love to go "sharkin" with Captain Quint on the Orca.

Ted Williams was a killer Surfcaster. Legend has it his name is still carved into the fireplace mantel of one of Day's Cottages in North Truro. How he hit the Fall Run and played ball is beyound me.
