Eben thanks for posting that pic of the Vase, know she wants one. :whackin: |
I make starfish too

I went today for a little while. Not too crowded. Found free streetside parking nearby (score!). Found a $2 discount coupon on the ground (score!) Got some awesome Jerky at a good price, some custom freshwater spinners that I probably payed too much for (but would never find anywhere else), and some killer freshwater rubber from the Worm Barn.
Impressed to say the least. Just wish I could have stayed long enough to catch a seminar or 2. Just kept walking by the gutter helmet, Verizon, Skoal, Mortgages, cars, etc.. Mike |
Her birthday is coming up, I will be in touch.

Just wanted to add that it was great to see everyone that stopped by the Nor'east booth. It sure was busy, so much so that we ran out of magazines to give away by about 1PM on Sunday. We never expected to see crowds like we had on Saturday. I got to walk around and talk to a lot of the exhibitors that I know on Sundy and they all said that they had a great show and will be back next year.

All in all I thought it was a great show. The RISAA guys did a great job and the show seemed very well planned out. As far as the filler, well you are gonna get them when you have a show this big. I was impressed with all the volunteer's they had, MSBA members should take note. I didn't drop a dime, except for a few libations, which would have been avoided if I wasn't influenced by a crowd of S-B er's... :rollem: :D
I had a great time, even though I was working :laugha: (tynan19) It was great running into T.Orlando, Tynan19, and of course the much better half- Starfish these guys seem to get me all fired up... Also ran into many more, Throwingtimber, Zacs, the big man JohnR, the AquaSkinz guyz (I did say it was very well made :hihi: #^^^^^^^^^^^&, and so many more..... The show was great, but for me it didn't have the vibe of the MSBA show, but I am biased :hee: Thanx to Afterhours bigtime, it's gonna slay :kewl: |
Went Sat and had a GREAT time. Good price on Sluggos and a great price on a single row surf bag by BW. $24.50 and it looks just like the AquaSkins bag. Probably won't last as long but at about 1/4 the price I can buy 1 a year for 3 years and still be ahead of the game.
Thanks to Throwing Timber for a great looking plug. I now owe you one. met a bunch of the guys from the board and was happy to find out that most don't consider me a "spot burner" for my Herring post. RIrockhound, being a licensed captain, knowns more people than you can ever imagine. If everyone he knows gave him one plug he could open a tackle shop. :bgi: |
I too bought one of those BW surf bags. Could not justify the $$ for the aquaskinz bag.

One spill and your plugs are going to shoot out of that bag like little mortar rounds :as: -spence |
If you got 20-30 dollar plugs in the bag , I can easily justify the price... :) johnny

Paul,
I have the same style bag. Got to the fabric store and get a $1.49 plastic buckle and a yard of nylon webbing $2.50 a yard. (if you get yourself 2 buckles you can fashion yourself a fish leash as well) sew in 2 inches of webbing at the top of the bag in a square then an x pattern. attached and sew one half the buckle. Repeat the same for the other end of the buckle. I placed the second part just over the small pocket in the front of the bag. The small clip can be opened and closed with one hand in the surf no problem. And also save yourself some aggrevation and cut the mesh off the side of the bag. my bag actually held up quite well by rinsing it every dozen or so trips with hodegman wader wash. |
Hey Guys:
My bag has the SNAP buckle just like the Aquaskin bag |
I have a BW Sports Hip Pack. Nice and roomy for large plugs, but the buckle with no velcro is a real pain to close in the surf. Also, when you store bucktails in the sleeves, when you open the top, the bucktails fly out into the water. My other bags dont do that.

I was at the show on Saturday morning, bright and early. Had a chat with Habs and Tattoo- talk about two down to earth good guys. Their plugs were beautifully displayed and the add for the new goo goo was awesome. Best part about those guys is the ability to make some of the most sought after plugs on the market and still be humble. Both of them outdid themselves with that goo goo.I troll old coopers and am ready to toss all my old ones in favor of the newest habatats. Met Charlie Cinto and was truly impressed.
I am too amazed at the number of plug makers and some of the lures were pretty but have a lot to prove before I shell out the bucks for them. Talked to Pete and the rest of the guys at swe, especially the custom rod builder, Dave Fontaine. Had some beautiful rods that really show off his unparalled workmanship. Talk about attention to detail! I will be saving my pennies for a couple of customs from him! All in all a great show, the best in the area! |

Thanks for all the kind words - it's been a real long Monday trying to get everything unpacked and back in place.
It was good to see all the Usual Suspects from S-B - thanks for stopping by The Angler's Art booth - me and Mrs Crafty couldn't have been more pleased with the show from our perspective as vendors. Our very first sale of the show was to Governor Carcieri who came by after the ribbon cutting and bought a framed 16x20 'Gamefish of the Rhode Island Surf' print - we thought it was a good omen and we ended up having a great weekend. Even though we got onboard with the booth a little later than most and were near the outskirts we were amazed at the traffic thru our booth! The RISAA guys did a great organizational job - it was our first show with the new business and we couldn't have been happier. My only regret was that I wasn't able to visit the other vendors I wanted to stop by and say hi and talk to because we got so busy - Anyway...Don and Janette, thanks again for the coffee, Clamma, we'll get together 'when the buds on the trees are as big as a thumbnail' ;) - DonM, good to see ya, my friend - Slip, wish we coulda talked longer, after hearing about the fees on the Cape  I'll never bitch about Newport sticker and pass fees again...Joe, I'll give ya a call - and JohnR, just give us a shout when you get a chance in regards to that thingy :) - and again, thanks to everyone who stopped by! It was good to see you all - now that the heat is off a little we can get back to normal... Although back to normal for Mrs Crafty is a lot shorter trip than it is for me :rotf3: |
Crafty,
I can't believe I missed I missed your booth :af: .I must be going blind. Jane and I walked what we thought was the entire show twice.Damn. |
Sheesh, BW - you would have liked it, too :whackin:
Hey, I'll be seeing you in your 'backyard' real soon anyway - I'll call ya :btu: |
I wanted to say high but I couldn't get through the crowd.
